The most misbehaved students. In John C. Calhoun Elementary is was proven that corporal punishment helped behave the most misbehaves students. This leads me to believe that it { Corporal Punishment }should be allowed. I think it should be allowed because it teaches kids to be respectful, teaches them to behave better, and it is a more effective discipline.
Corporal punishment teaches kids to be respectful. In source A it is said “ Kids at the school sat the paddle definitely think twice about acting up’’ With this being saidis shows that the kids being hit with the paddle makes them never want to act up again so they do not get hit. In source A it is also said that John C. Calhoun Elementary earned three statewide awards. The kids began to be more respectful and it changed the school for the better. It was also said in source A “ There will always be new kids who need to learn the limits at school. ” Having corporal punishment will teach the kids the limits and they will learn to be more respectful.
Another reason it should be allowed is because it teaches kids to behave better. The quote from source A says “ Nixon has managed to turn John C around ”

Although some people do not agree with it because they say that it is unfair and that the principals may take advantage of it. It is said in source A “ He makes sure his elbow is still .” This quote is showing that the principals do not take advantage of it and they are careful. People agree with corporal punishment because they think it is a more effective discipline. Source A says “ Punishment for ‘major offense’ ” They will only use corporal punishment for certain rules that are broken and not for any unfair reasons. Source A also says “Parents say ‘thanks you for doing this’ ” They say this because this discipline was more effective than others and their kids are showing more improvement behavior wise
“There is now less flogging in our great schools than formerly, but then less is learned there; so that what the boys get at one end they lose at the other.” Samuel Johnson wrote that in 1775. I assume Mr. Johnson was a supporter of corporal punishment. The comment above gives proof, that there have been differences expressed regarding child-rearing styles for centuries; this is not a new subject. It sort of debunks the older generation when they say, “In my day, children could get spanked and the parents would not receive any heat for it!” I heard my grandfather scream those words before, while he watched the local news. There is much to say for corporal punishment – according to an article provided by CNN, research found, “Corporal punishment
Banning books is an exaggerated solution to an avoidable problem. Specifically, “rather than banning [a] book for it’s sexual content, a better solution would be for parents to put such subjects into perspective for the children who may want to read the book” (Rich). Some parents think that banning books is the only to deal with their children around touchy subjects, when, in reality, sitting down and talking with their children would have been not only easier, but more effective, too. Books are banned for a multitude of reasons, many of which most people do not agree upon. For instance, there is “a biased, non-standard scale of what random people perceive as wrong or unsuitable” in which determines whether or not a book is banned (Yung). What some parents might consider horrifyingly inappropriate, others might consider a necessary lesson for the education of their child. Promoters of book banning say that they are protecting children's innocence, but book banees only do what they do because they’re afraid, afraid of new things and afraid of letting their kids grow up. In the words of accredited author and Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children’s Book Award recipient, Judy Blume, “I believe that censorship grows out of fear, and because fear is contagious, some parents are easily swayed… They want to believe that if their children don’t read about it, their children won’t know about it. And if they
The use of corporal punishment teaches children that it is acceptable to use violence to solve problems; however, many people believe using corporal punishment to discipline children is acceptable because it was used on them. Parents
As the saying goes, “if people are good only because they fear punishment [then] we are a sorry lot indeed” (Albert Einstein). The question is whether corporal punishment is necessary with so many other methods of discipline available. Is it effective? This is a much-debated issue between childcare specialists and parents alike. Corporal punishment, like spanking, should not be the preferred method of discipline as it does more harm than good.
If you saw a teacher hitting their student, would you think it was okay or would you disagree? Corporal punishment of any child in school should be illegal in all states. Corporal punishment in school is causing the student pain in response to undesired behavior. It might involve hitting the student across the buttocks or the hand with a cane, wooden paddle, slipper, belt, or wooden yardstick (ruler). With corporal punishment you are not promoting a safe school, you can't sue the teacher who hit your child if the child gets hurt badly, and your also promoting violence into the vulnerable child's life; you're making a criminal. But, some might care to see that corporal punishment is okay and we can have it.
It has become a tradition; a lifestyle that people has become accustomed to, believing that is the way to disciplined and raised a child. Corporal punishments have worked for others but I believe many exposure to such punishment have led people to believe that is the only way, that is why instead of convincing why it might be wrong will help the parents have an opened minded about other option
Corporal punishment has been around for a long time, and parent’s uses corporal punishment for several of different reasons. Corporal punishment is when parents use painful force on a child but does not leave wounds. . UNICEF, Awareness Campaign Against Corporal Punishment of Children in Families, unicef.org, http://www.unicef.org/lac/spbarbados/Implementation/CP/Global/Educate_donthit_SaveManual.pdf, (last visited April 28, 2015). Some parents use corporal
Another reason why corporal punishment should be allowed is because teachers would feel more powerful and have less of a chance of getting stress over yelling at the kids to listen. Kids all over the world don’t fully listen to the teachers who help them(Sifferlin). This causes teachers to get angry and yell at the pupils. Instead of yelling and sending them out of the room, the teachers should whack their hand to let them know they mean business. This would help teachers because they would have less stress. This helps the world and the students because the world would be smarter if
Many parents argue whether or not corporal punishment is the best form of parenting. All around America, corporal punishment is and always has been accepted as the correct way to discipline children. More recently, the practice has been challenged, but despite much research, many Americans are still not convinced that there is a better way. Unlike drinking milk, smoking, and texting while driving, corporal punishment remains a silenced public health issue. Corporal punishment should be stopped in all American schools and homes.
Those methods are effective, and they teach children to resolve problems without resorting to violence. More than anything, corporal punishment is an ineffective means of discipline, because the same student are repeatedly the recipients of it. Corporal punishment does not teach the child appropriate behavior, but only brings forth undesirable behavior. Some youth wil learn from the example and demonstrate aggressive, harmful behavior themselves. Schools have a responsibility to model for and teach our youths methods of exerting authority and modifying behaviors that are constructive, humane, and provide opportunities for growth, and I do not believe corporal punishment helps do any of these.
The effectiveness of corporal punishment is something that is much more than whooping a child for wrongful doing, but it’s a deterrence mechanism within households and even schools. As a result of corporal punishment it can have a positive and negative effect it is something that works different on all individuals, positive reinforcement also
American schools should not allow corporal punishment. Corporal punishment has been used for centuries, and should not continue, it should stay a thing of the past. Corporal punishment is unfair to students, can emit fear in them, and there is no guarantee a student will stop their behavior. This type of punishment is not right, it should not be done among any child for any reason. If we are going to discipline students, it should not be with a paddle. Students should be disciplined for their actions, but by a detention, not a hit. All 50 states of America must realize this. America should not allow corporal punishment for behavioral issues.
Would you like it if you got hit, spanked, or flogged? No, you wouldn’t. Corporal punishment is authoritarian, brutal and, painful. I don’t know why corporal is still legal, but it should be banned completely. I was surprised to find that corporal punishment is still legal in household throughout the united states. What infuriated me was that it's still legal in school in nineteen states here in United states. I know a lot of parents and schools thinks it’s a good way to discipline kids but it is completely brutal and unfair; however, there are other ways to discipline children. Corporal punishment has never worked and never will study show that the children who were spanked are more likely to spank their children.
Though many people would argue that much of this is symbolic, this is good evidence that corporal punishment has been around for thousands of years. I partly agree that corporal punishment helps straighten out children’s bad behavior fast. When people are hit or feel some other sort of pain, they immediately stop the behavior because they don’t like the feeling of pain. It has immediate results. Let me give an example from Korea when physical punishment is used and has immediate results. When a young student starts smoking, teachers in Korea choose to give physical punishment to correct the student’s bad behavior. They know that making someone stop smoking is very difficult so they want to put an end to it as soon as possible. For this reason, they need strong discipline to make them stop smoking as quickly as possible. The student
Corporal punishment is wrong because it causes long-term negative effects on students. If a student receives a paddling as a punishment it could cause serious problems for that student mentally and physically. One example of this is in an article called Should Corporal Punishment Be Used in K-12 Schools?. It says “frequent use of corporal punishment leads to a higher risk for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, stress, and other mental health”. These would be dangerous for a child’s health. In serious cases this could even lead to suicidal thoughts. Not only can corporal punishment affect a child's mental health, it can also have an affect on their performance in school. Another example from an article says, “Students who experience corporal punishment in
