Compare And Contrast The Three Major Religions Of Southwest Asia

Religions in South and East Asia like Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, and Hinduism, and legalism have all helped unite people and create a way of living in the “right” way. Not only did religion and beliefs bring people together as a whole but also gave them a standard on how to live their life. In south Asia the religions Buddhism and Hinduism helped unite India under religion. Legalism helped stop the warring states period in china. Religion is a powerful force that can help people in many ways but can also cause conflict between opposing religions.

Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are some of the religions that most individuals can relate to, being the three largest religions in the world. Like many religions they share many differences and also some similarities. One difference that these religions hold is their view of Jesus Christ. Similarities are surprisingly common to find among some religions because of the basis they put on one another. Some similarities between these religions include: belief of monotheism and the influence of Zoroastrianism had on each religion. Also another similarity carried out by these three religions would be the significance of Abraham. Some other differences include: religious texts and also how they approach God in prayer.

Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all have similar origins, development, beliefs, and sacred texts. Contrary to popular belief all three of these religions share more common ground than one would think. The differences are present of course, but the similarities help one understand where all three were derived from and why. All of the religions share the common ground as to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the belief of monotheism, and “ethical standards required social justice for individuals and for the community” (144). Judaism is the oldest religion out of the three, then falls Christianity, and lastly Islam.

The major similarities that all three religions share are that they are all monotheistic. This all means that they believe in one god and that he is the supreme ruler of all things. They also believe that all things are created equal under one god. They all have books of what they believe to be God's word. The Jews have their book known as the Torah. The Christian's have their book known as the Bible. Lastly the Islamic people have their book

The eastern religions that we have discussed in class are Hinduism, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. The western religions that we have discussed in class are Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The Eastern Religions have originated in countries such as China, India, and Japan. The western religions originated in Europe and the Americas. There are few similarities between eastern religions and western religions, but many differences. The biggest difference between the two religions is that eastern religions believe in more than one god, whereas western religions believe in one God.

Christians believes that Christ died and rose on the third day, which is Easter Sunday. Some people things that we have not seen and things that we see every day, we do not believe. Baptist Christians have their belief in a true and living God, whom they have not seen, but feel the present and the spirt. Christians believe that the spirt talks, walks, guide and protect them. In the Old Testament some people believe that every first born male child must be killed unless the house where they lived had the sign of a blood stain above the top on the house.

Many times people got into fights, end friendships, and become even violence because of some disagreements on matters of faith or religious. Sometimes knowing more about other religions might help people avoid conflicts between each other, and eventually might lead to living together peacefully. The most famous three religions -People of the book- are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Judaism is the oldest organized religion in the world; however, it only has 14 million followers around the world most of them centered in North America and Israel. Christianity, came after Judaism and have two billion believers around the world, and that’s about one third of the world population. Finally, Islam came after Judaism and Christianity. Even though Islam came afterwards, it spread quickly around the world, and today there are around 1.3 billion Muslims around the world. Although those three religions might look very different on the outside, they have much more in common than people might think.

The three Abrahamic religions share not just the same Supreme Being but they also share several common themes. Many people view these three religions as separate entities but are more related than most people would expect.

The religions of Christianity, Islam and Judaism are all similar because of a few very distinct reasons. The biggest reason that these religions are similar is because they all believe in one god called Abraham. Abraham is considered the founder or forefather of all three religions. Southwest religion is home to three major religions. These different religions often cause several conflicts, which is understandable, considering the vast differences between the three. To fully understand why the conflicts are happening, it is vital that the differences and similarities between the three religions, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, are discussed.

The spread of religion first began through contact with neighbouring countries which gradually expand throughout the years. Buddhism and Islam are one of the most widespread religions across Southeast Asian countries like Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Trade merchants and imperial support of the religion were major factors in the facilitation and localization of the spread of Buddhism and Islam within Southeast Asia. However, there were also limitations presented which hindered the development of each religion in within their countries as introduction of newer religions and changes to political and imperial power would have affected the progression to become fully localised pre-1800s.

Hinduism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity developed among different groups in the world. Hinduism developed in the 19th century in Indonesia by the people of Hindu (Woodhead, Partridge & Kawanami, 2016). Islam was born off the people of Umma who were tied together by the Islamic religion. Christians trace its root in the Jewish community in Middle East who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ the son of their most supreme being God and Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama in India (Woodhead, Partridge & Kawanami, 2016).

From researching these three religions I found that they all have different and unique characteristics. I stated their place of origin, the year they were founded, original language, sacred text, place of worship, clergy, and etc. While researching I also noticed that although they might have been different religions, they all one from one main religious term which is monotheistic. Monotheistic makes them have all common, when it comes to worshiping God, because they only worship one God. Also these religions mostly come from the same origin or place of origin. There are many pros & cons of these religions that make them unique in different and similar.

As different as they may seem, all religions are pretty similar. Even just the small things that are just here and there can connect many religions together. That is not to say that there are also differences between them like their stances on many beliefs, gods, and followers of their religion. However the eastern and western religions are so similar and yet so different that I have decide to label the similarities and differences. That being said, I believe that the western are so similar and yet so different that they must be analyzed. After all they believe in a higher power, pray, and do other such things that are similar but still every reason they are similar is also how they're different.
