College Admissions Essay: The Definition Of Success

I would define success as achieving a goal that you set out for. The three most important things on John Wooden's Pyramid of Success are Confidence, Condition and Fight. These create success in many ways. If you have confidence to win you will always win or come very close. If your team is in condition you will be able to outwork the other team and be success. And if you willing to fight to win then you will be successful in every accept of life. I thought these were important because of how the sports I play I use all of these to be successful in these and in life in general.

To me success is accomplishing the goals, doing things the right way, and doing what you love.

Success is a word that really hard to define, because everyone will have a different definition for this word. In fact, there no exact definition for the word "success". For a student, maybe the success means to pass all courses of the semester; for a business man, signing a importance contract and get a lot of money are successes; and for a president, leading the country to develop and make the people have a better life are success. For me, I also have my own definition for the word "success". When I was a kid, I really want to be a scientist, but after I become mature, my thinking has become more mature and my definition of success also

I define success as trying you're hardest no matter what and persevering through everything that you try. You may not get through the problem that you are having. Even though you didn't complete the challenge that you were having if you got as much out of the task that was placed in front of you, then you have succeeded. I also define success as when you set a goal for you're self or someone else sets a goal for you. If you reach that goal or go above that goal that was set, then you have succeeded. I believe that success is not just finishing you're work, test or challenge, if you finish it but do not do you're best and try you're hardest, then I believe that you are not successful in what you just did, but if you go as hard as you can, not

I have learned a lot from my past. I learned that we should never let anything interrupt our path to success. It took me two years to finally understand that we should let go of our past because if we do not, then it is going to hold us back and it will prevent us from learning new things. Endicott College is a great place that can give wings to my dream, the dream of making my father proud of me. Through Endicott College, I can share my knowledge with the world and become successful.

“Success” is a term that is a part of our daily life. It can be defined in a variety of ways, such as achievements, awards, and college degrees. Some will even deem success as having a family, having a well-paying job, or even feel that living an uncomplicated life of contentment. But in the world that we live in today, there is not a set definition of success to go by. Only you as a person can give the meaning of success.

Success is something we all reach for. As human beings we love accomplishing things and reaching for our dreams. When trying to define the word success we can find other words with similar meanings. Words that can be used almost interchangeably with success, one such word is accomplish. Success and accomplish both indicate the end of a journey, a point that took a great deal of effort to reach. On the other hand, there is also an important difference in the two words. The word success in indicative of a good outcome, something that is happy.

Success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose in the dictionary but the definition varies from person. In the autobiography of Sandra Cisneros, “Straw into Gold” and of Ben Franklin they both have a strong theme of success. Within these essays they both proved that if you have a dream, you should follow it with all your heart despite any obstacle because they could be stepping stones in disguise. Sandra Cisneros had a dream of becoming a writer so much so that she craved it. “But there was another hunger that had to be fed.

“She’s pregnant!? Are you oblivious? Your life is over… Do you not realize what is going to happen? You MUST drop out and work to feed your family from now on! I thought you were smarter than this.” This type of verbal abuse continued in my brother-in-law’s family, but as buoyant as both my sister, and her boyfriend were at age 17, this only fed fuel to their fire for triumph. In this day of age, many unplanned pregnancies throughout young adults have discouraged their higher hopes and dreams. Many use the excuse “reality knocked me off my feet” or “things happen for a reason”. Who gave you this excuse…? Are you not the artist of your own reality? What is success? Is it the process of doing a task and receiving a positive result acceptable amongst the community, or is it simply achieving ones own personal goals? Success to me can mean many things. Although I am successful in school, that does not necessarily mean I will lead a successful life.

A seven thousand square foot home fully equipped with state-of-the-art appliances. A Mercedes-Benz parked in the driveway. A six-figure salary. A vacation home large enough to house an average family of four that’s used solely in the summer. What do all of these items have in common? They represent the possessions an American ideal of what success is. In America, bigger is considered to be better, and more is considered to be, well, more. But what is success, anyway? The Oxford Dictionary of English defines success as: The accomplishment of an aim or purpose. If that were the definition that Americans truly believed represented success, then wouldn’t nearly every citizen living in America be considered successful? Everybody has a purpose. Everybody strives to reach their goals and aspirations. Success shouldn’t be represented by materialistic items. Success is a feeling that comes from within and is unique to each individual. Who is anyone to say that a person whose lifelong aim was to own a dog is any less successful than someone whose lifelong dream was to own a law firm? Being successful is being content with one’s life. Therefore, nobody’s definition of success should be the same.

Most people commonly describe success, as being wealthy in life. This is not the meaning entirely, the definition of success is simple. A person is successful, if he or she has very good payment at his or her work and if he or she is happy with the job, they are doing. Education really leads to success. If a person has good education, he or she can choose their careers and be successful at it. Education is a form of learning in which the knowledge and skills is being transferred from a group of people to another or from a generation to the next, through teaching and training.
