Two Thinker toy methods that helped me process and come up with new ideas are “Feeding Your Head” and being a “Travel Junkie” (Michalko, 2006). I usually read and travel for fun or a purpose, not for creative thinking.
I love to read and I read for pleasure and for ideas and quotes for my students. I use some strategies in “Feeding Your Head”, I can make it more meaningful to my creative process by having a purpose before I read. I usually read and figure out how to use knowledge of what I have read. If I start with a purpose in mind I can get more out of the books to become a creative thinker.
I like to go to stores, Disneyland, museums, and trade shows to get ideas for my home and my classroom. I feel I am “Travel Junkie” and love to visualize things and how I can apply them. I don’t do it for creative juice but for a

Stretching the Challenge In “Stretching the Challenge” I asked the “why”. In doing so it helped me dissect and engage into why I chose parental engagement as my project. The more I question the more passionate I become. The questions I asked were:
1. In what ways might I help increase parental engagement? To encourage parents to take part in their child’s academic journey.
2. In what ways might I help families of disadvantage students? By helping families have better job and life opportunities.
3. In what ways might I help parental in their child’s education? By making parents aware of the education system and how to surpass any obstacles they may face.
4. In what ways might I help migrant education students? Give parents a goal in mind for their children; graduating from high school and/or college.
5. In what ways might I help parents? To help parents find their voice and be advocates for their children without fear.

It is critical for a parent to be involved in their children’s education because it is important for a child to have knowledge. Parents often help toddlers develop early academic skills by reading books to them or helping them learn their ABCs and numbers. When a child starts school, parents should communicate with their child’s teachers and keep track of their academic progress. Parents of older children should focus on teaching their children independent study
I form a successful partnership with families that I work with by, communicating with parent that could be verbally or nonverbally with newsletters, or by a bulletin board. I create an atmosphere that is inviting and accessible for parents. For instance, greet parents as soon as they walk in the door. I invite parents to visit when it is convenient for them, not just during special events. I conduct
I know families and the communities are our support system and always there for us. Being a future teacher I have to support the families and communities and letting them be engage. I can do a Literacy Night with the school. This will involve the families and communities. The literacy Night will be a multicultural event. All the books will be different types of multicultural books from the list. The families and communities can come out to learn more about each cultural. I will get some parents involve by helping me set up or they can talk about their own culture.
As early educators and advocates for young children, we need to be available to families in our area and play integral roles that can make a difference in their lives. Some ways that I could do that in a student’s life would be to assure that the family’s basic needs are met by striving to make a deeper connection, provide outside
Academic scholars have noted that students who are thoroughly engaged are high academic achievers (Fullan, 2016). However, the subject of parent involvement has been introduced into the discourse over the past decades and now most educational leaders agree “ the closer the parent is to the education of the child, the greater the impact on child development and educational achievement” (Fullan, 2016, p. 158). As a result, the Ontario Ministry of education created Parents in Partnership: A parent engagement policy for Ontario schools. This policy is directly aligned with the ministry’s goal of creating and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive education system. The policy identifies parents as key individuals in education as they contribute to the work of educators, schools, and the community (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2010). An investigation into the framework of the policy reveals the main actors, which are the parents; who are defined as caregivers, guardians, and parents, the government, school boards, teachers, principals, students, and the
I am quite fortunate to work at a site that I was able to be part of creating our school’s vision. Lorena Falasco Elementary School’s mission statement is: “In partnership with our community, Lorena Falasco Elementary School is committed to creating a safe and positive environment with high expectations that encourage success and lifelong learning for everyone.” With that in mind, parent education and involvement are crucial for a school to be successful in doing so. At this time I am co-leading a parent education class that is being held at Lorena Falasco Elementary School we have completed seven of the eight workshops. The parenting workshop combines parenting and leadership skills that will empower parents to become vital contributors to their children’s academic success. There are eight workshops that we will present, which will create parent leaders and also provide positive
It is important to have parents involved with all parents. Research has proven that unless parents and communities are involved in their child educational goals, often time the goals are not met. There are programs that are able to assist parents to assist their child in learning. Many times parents feel that they are failing as parents when their child is struggle academically. Communication is key when dealing with struggling students. Various different modes of communication are necessary. Parents should have an input on how the intervention is being implementing and is it done with fedicaility. Providing education to parents may be needed for them to help their student be
“Students articulate the complex characteristics of children’s families and communities and use this understanding to create respectful, reciprocal relationships that support and empower families, and to engage all families in their children’s development and learning.”
Helping children thrive, progress and achieve is more than just a job for me-it 's a calling;
Students in impoverished communities feel as if they cannot reach their dreams because of the conditions in which they are raised. Some students feel as though they are unable to over poverty. I know from experience that all it takes to motivate children is exposure to their possibilities. This will motivate them to go out and make their dreams realities. I learned this from the person that inspires me, my mentor, Anita Johnson. She is the coordinator of Health Professions Affinity Community (HPAC), a program that allows students to focus on medical disparities within their community. The students develop a project and implement a plan to alleviate these disparities. It is her job to help us succeed in our groups, but what inspires me most
By informing parents of the ways in which they may be able to assist (Fellowes, 2010), paired with flexible commitment offers, teachers are setting a comfortable and casual scene for parents to become involved in their child’s learning.

Brandon Sanderson, one of my favourite science fiction authors once said, ““The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to give you questions to think upon.” (Sanderson, 2010). This was a saying that stuck with me throughout my love and passion not just for storytelling but art in general. The beautiful thing about art is that it creates a sense of emotion that you can interpret the meaning for yourself; there is no right or wrong answer. Whenever I am reading poetry or a novel, what I love most is that it makes my imagination go wild. I create an idea of what their voices sound like, what the characters look like, the setting, etc. Whenever I’m reading or listening to someone telling me a story I get to create my own art piece in my mind which I think as humans is one thing that makes us so unique is our abstract mind and the use of an conscious imagination.
I began by researching and creating presentations and informative packets for parents of skills they could apply in their daily lives. Aware of the tiring and backbreaking labor parents endured daily, I was not discouraged by the low attendance during the meetings as informing some was better than none. It was time consuming process and people asked where I got the energy, as creating letters for meetings, presentations, buying snacks, and assuring that information be beneficial for parents in attendance to implement. Having the desire, conviction, and bringing a sense of hope by informing parents of their rights and answering questions created an caring identity that brought admiration and respect. That admiration boosted my confidence and energy to move forward to do more, the view of hope and confidence on parents faces who are informed willing to stand up encourages to continue on that path. It was hope and encouragement from parents that led me to apply to parent state conferences in where I would present to a larger audience only energized to continue on this path of informing parents of their legal rights. Nervous and excited were common feelings at each presentation hoping the information presented would help bring hope and encouragement for parents become aware of their rights. At the end of each presentation, appreciative and thankful parents in addition their kind words of encouragement to continue on my path of informing parents helped me inexplicably. I continued applying and presenting at conferences for four years, presenting at a national conference brought a feeling of accomplishment of what I had envisioned when I began on this
For example I hosted some children who come from hard to live environment, they come to me- You realize that the child is yearning for education and may succeed, teachers sometimes host them and these students succeed. There are several students whom I witnessed with my own eyes coming from very poor families, they studied and reached their dreams although not the highest dream.
