Babysitting is an excellent source of income. For young girls, it is a good paying source of work. You'll never get rich being a babysitter, but compared to minimum wage jobs that require specific days and hours from you, babysitting is often preferable. Also you will work for a variety of employers, rather than one.

4. Babysitting is great on a resume or college application. Working as a babysitter requires many good qualities: patience, responsibility, intelligence, creativity, quick thinking. These are all qualities desired by an employer and qualities that college review committees look highly upon. Don't downplay the benefits of working as a babysitter. If you include it on a resume or college application, treat it like you would treat other paid work, volunteer work or community work.

5. Babysitting is important work. Children connect with their childcare providers and babysitters as adults and young mentors they can look up to. You are a role model and friend. Include the name of children's doctors and dentists, any allergies per child. Get medical insurance numbers from parents. You probably wont need, but don't forget the motto. “ Better safe than sorry” If you run into a situation where you need that number, you'll be glad you have it.
Non-medical information that is relevant. Maybe the child is afraid of the dark, or one needs a furry pink blanket.
Emergency information, phone numbers of the next door neighbors, grandparents and such. Include cell phone numbers of mom and dad.
Miscellaneous information. Each family has different way of running their household. If you work for more than one family and you have a family at home, nothing certain specific things about like did the family like. For example, remembering the cat stays outside or the dog can't go out without a leash. Its possible the kids can only watch television for a specific time period or that they can only play with specific toys. You should write these things here, so you have fewer questions when you arrive. You will be more organized and ready to work the moment you arrive.

It is a good idea to keep a blank worksheet on your computer and print a new one each time you being work for a new family. Print the sheet, ask the questions listed, hole punch and place it in your binder behind “Family”
