I have many short term and long term goals ranging from educational to personal goals I’ve made myself; however I can only narrow it down to three. One of my short term goals is to major in pre-med, go to medical school, and get a masters degree in my field. The career goals I have is to become a pediatric oncologist and work specifically at Lurie Children's in Chicago, IL. As a personal goal I want to invest in a culinary program for high schoolers because I want to provided them with essential life skills. These goals I’ve plan on achieving a little over ten years from now.
I’m not a straight A student, but that doesn’t mean I lack intelligence. My education has always been my top priority because I know in the long run it would come in handy. I grew up around hospitals, so that became a natural environment because I was always sick. I learned about IV’s, heart monitors, procedures, etc. that’s taken place. Another thing is that science has always been my favorite subject and an easy topic to grasp for me, A particular science I’m specifically fond of is chemistry, so pharmacy might be a backup plan for me.I know going to med school and getting a masters isn’t easy, but if someone else can do it, so can I.

And as her best friend I visited her mother with her for moral support. I saw how chemotherapy can drastically change a person’s health, all for just killing cells. And how radiation can have negative effects on your body. I just became so fascinated that I wanted to do it as a career. I love working with children, so pediatrics is a good fit for me. And the reason why I want to work in Lurie Children's hospital is because I did an internship there and I just fell in love with the place, the hospital itself is
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.

I never thought anything like this would happen. How could it happen? Why did it have to be my best friend. I just didn’t understand or get why it was happening because there had never been any signs of it. Why cancer?
The right career path begins with the right college, and the right college should take me to the right path. I always wondered what I was going to do with my life ever since I was 12 years old. When I turned 14 I wanted to become a video game designer but then I looked into it and learned how much I hated it, how much it wasn’t like playing video games. So as I always told myself “if it isn’t right for you then go with the next thing in life you enjoy.”. So that’s when I started my journey of life mentally, looking to the right career for success. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making the decision.
Our world gets more digital every day. Nearly everyone has a smartphone and a computer. Even more people have a TV and if people do they are in contact with the digital world everyday.

Throughout my life, I always wondered what my profession would be when I grew up. My first choice was to be a nurse because I love to help people and make sure that they are well taken care of. When I reached high school, my thoughts about nursing tapered off because other careers interested me even more, such as becoming a lawyer. As I began researching more and more about lawyers, I talked to my work based learning teacher at school, and she recommended a part time job at a law firm. I began calling around, and entering my senior year of high school, I received my first job at a law firm. The first days of working at the law firm, I was extremely excited because I thought that I would be one step closer to reaching my goals as an attorney. I had the privilege of seeing what the attorneys did throughout the day, however as my experience in the firm progressed, my interest in becoming an attorney dwindled. I then realized I was back to square one and was extremely discouraged, because I did not know what I wanted to do with my life.

The career I have chosen is called Art or Creative Director. An Art/Creative Director is someone who is responsible for the overall atmosphere or appearance of films, television shows, stage productions, magazines, newspapers, advertisements, and multimedia products. They have a strong sense of design, vision, and style. I am interested in this career because it really shows my creative side and for years I am known for my aptitude of drawing, painting and etc.
I also liked taking the assessments. The career assessments are a great assessment to take for ourselves and also for students who are looking to enter a career. It is great that the career assessment confirmed my beliefs that working as a counselor or in the education field matches my interest. I can’t believe that the unemployment rate is so high. I’m sure this class has prepared you to help the students with their career and college decisions. The websites were very helpful and I will be using them in the future. It was great working with you in this class.
The last few years in high school, I told myself I was going to pursue a major that will benefit me no matter the career path I took in life. I was determined to be different from my older siblings. I composed letters, essays, and papers dedicated to the future me and in every one of them, I envisioned the perfect four years of life in college and the start of my success. However, as the first year in college flew by, I no longer had the confidence I once did and the word success found its’ way out of my life. I took courses I that did not interest me, in hopes to find my passion. Then, finally I found myself again within the halls of the business department. I quickly grasped onto the opportunity and walked through
Taking the assessments from the Career Path enhanced my understanding of my abilities and my future career opportunities. I believe the results from the Career Path accurately reflected my career goals. For instance, the majority of my results included either psychology or sociology, which are the two careers I am most interested in. The top two results for my leisure interest included clinical sociologist and educational psychologist. Though I am not interested in either of these two careers, I was relieved that they were both included in my interests and field of study. However, my personality did not reflect the results of my dream job of becoming a military or a child psychologist. In fact, not one of my hopeful future careers were listed on the results from my personality assessment. According to the personality assessment, I am logical, analytical, base my decisions on solid facts, and adapt to changes in a situation. Nonetheless, I believe some of these results are
As I progressed through my last year in earning my Bachelors of Arts, from the University of Akron majoring in Fashion Merchandising-Home Furnishings I realized that the fashion world was not where my passion truly lay. At first this was quite disappointing to me, having spent the last four years working toward a career in fashion I could not bear for all of the time and hard work I had put into earning my degree to be washed away. However, I soon realized that although I no longer had a desire to pursue a career in fashion, I had gained invaluable knowledge and experience through my classes while earning my degree that would be valued in many career paths. I also realized that through the past four years of college I had been doing a job that I truly enjoy and had never even considered its possibilities as a career path I could follow. That job was working as a student assistant at the University of Akron, Wayne College Library and that is precisely why I am writing this today. The library is exactly where I want to be.
