Capstone class is the final process for graduation. The workload was intense, but it was a learning experience. Working under a short time frame was rewarding, challenging, and manageable. This has shown me that I can complete an assignment under pressure and in a short time frame. The topic that my group presented on was informative where knowledge can be used for future references. The first and second week everyone on the team was participating and helping each other out. However, that started to change in week three. There has been many re-editing for each part of the paper. Unfortunately, it only came down to three people that was putting their input into this paper. So, therefore, this has become the stressful part about capstone. I started to feel like a counselor to get one of the teammate to participate in this project. It is difficult to work in a team when one member is not pulling their weight. It is nice when all team members participate and cooperate with each other that make the process go smoother. Having one team member that does not care and take a vacation without informing the other group members was an eye opener for me. We all take out loans to pay for college so you would expect everyone to be serious about capstone and graduate with the best grade possible. …show more content…
All this team member did was send a text message to one team member to say she was in the Dominican Republic. There was no consideration that the rest of the team are doing all the work and no thought in letting the team know when she would return from vacation. I guess everyone sees life different and I guess capstone was not that important to her. After week 8, I just decided that it would be three of us communication on this project. I learned you couldn’t force someone to participate if they do not want to. You just have to let it be and do your part the best way you
This paper is a personal reflection of Team Erie’s performance in Phase One of Capsim.
Our group is a 5-member team whose goal was to finish the assignment on time. We were committed to working together to be successful because our class experience and grade was related to successfully completing this assignment. Our team worked together collaboratively to analyze the issue and to plan for an organized presentation. When we began our meeting, we knew that we wanted our end-results to be some sort of solution and action plan for the assignment given. All of our members were competent and each contributed valuable input to the discussion. Our assignment was to find out why the iMeeting portal's reception and use was met with mediocre results by NTCNA
on Wednesday, I attended a meeting with the team work to see if they got any suppliers to cooperate with them or if they need any help, since they divided the work among them that’s don’t mean they won’t ask for help from the any member. That’s show how those teams work together and all should be connected with each other because if one of the team members didn’t work the whole project will fail and won’t submit it in the deadline.
At Cano, the teachers heavily emphasized “Project Based Learning” in their classrooms. In theory, this method of teaching is supposed to help prepare students for the real world by forcing people to work with others and communicate with each other in order to get the project completed. However, in reality, most of the students didn’t care and would leave the project up to the one or two people who actually wanted a good grade. While they did nothing but play on their phones, the one or two people would be burdened with the task of completing the project by themselves. To counter this, teachers would tell their students that they would be graded on their own individual part of the project and wouldn’t have to worry about the other group members messing up their grade. What they failed to realize was that most people can’t do it by themselves. They need the rest of the group to help and do their part of the project in order to complete their own. Because of this, I spent many sleepless nights working on projects that should have been done by a team, not by one person. Cano did a horrible job at preparing me for high school. Very rarely did I ever get individual assignments or homework, so once I went to high school and saw how much work I needed to do, I wasn’t ready. At TSTC, most of the professors use individual assignments and hardly ever give group assignments. This way, I saw how I was doing as a
I do not recall learning about reflective practice in my undergraduate studies. Reflective practice according to Barbour (2013), “is the cyclic process of internally examining and exploring an issue of concern, triggered by an experience, which creates and clarifies meaning in terms of self, existing knowledge, and experience; resulting in a changed conceptual perceptive and practice” (p. 7). According to Barbour (2013), reflective process has many positive outcomes to help guide the nurse to become an expert nurse that can make on the spot decisions that do not interrupt patient care. I feel that reflective practice would have been beneficial to help guide me from a student nurse to a practicing nurse with critical thinking skills.
My plan and dissemination and implementation for my capstone project is to educate the nurses on the importance of teaching parents about the proper use of skin-to-skin contact. I plan on implementing this project by providing the nurses with the latest evidence based practice so that they can help implement this in their education in the NICU unit at Mount Sinai. Nurses are viewed as reliable source by the patient therefore it is important for us to implement good quality teaching. When I present this project to the unit I will make the following recommendations: to examine and reinforce the education among nurses in the unit and to encourage parents to attend a two hour hands on training course before discharge on skin-to-skin contact.
This semester I learned a lot about writing in English 151. It has been a roller coaster ride with these essays for me this semester. I learned step by step how to write a good essay and how to have your readers be engaged in what you’re trying to tell them. Each essay I did has taught me something valuable I can take to the next level of English. I feel as if as the semester went by I did not take my writing that seriously and that reflected in my grades I received in each essay. It made me a better student and writer and it will reflect next semester. In this essay, I will reflect on what I learned throughout this semester that you should apply in your writing when you begin English 151.
While yes, I scored all areas 10, that is not just a quick answer. I have worked closley with all of these areas over the year and have been very pleased with how profesional and helpful each and every area has been. From Keita helping to get HIPAA training for a consoltent to Leo quickly fixing issues that have come up with my computer or the network. From Mark and Paul working closley with me to create scripts that save time with interanl audits and networking issues with other agencies to Tim quickly helping with a DHHS leagle question. From working with Bill on the “Bringing Something to the Table” article to Janice helping me with a state car. From Julia helping me find people who are in meetings that end up in different places then where
In this first section a few things came up that would be helpful in my research. The article mentions, “Today, the CDC recommends that children receive vaccines for 10 diseases, plus the flus vaccine, by age 6, which can mean up to 37 separate shots”. There were stories in this section on different parents even actors against vaccinations. The article did mention that there was a study that identified that usually children who are not vaccinated are from male children from wealthy educated families. This is important because in my personal experience low income families are easily persuaded and even as an adult or child will take anything given by a doctor without even knowing what they are taken. As I become more educated I question anyone
The big problem people have to projects is that they do not really listen to both sides. When we spoke our minds of the situation we listened to each side and negotiated. Everyone was very well educated along with being very kind as well as patient. As the project kept proceeding bumps in the road were hit, however we got over it then grew from it. In the end we went into the presentation with confidence, and it seemed flawless. We were all proud of what we were able to accomplish in five days. In conclusion, from the very beginning we were all unsure about how this arrangement was going to workout, we each had our beliefs that conflicted with others, however in the end we worked so well that we ended making a relationship with each other we probably did not expect. It is safe to say that my beliefs as to how we were going to work together changed as time went on, I enjoyed it and along the way I learned so much about different beliefs and cultures that it changed the way I look at everything. This experience to work with different people has really helped me grow as a teammate and a
For the first phase of CAPSIM, we decided, as team, to work collaboratively and collectively make
This case was not an exception. While each member of the team has worked hard to maintain communication and work as a team there have been obstacles. The group having no prior experience with the work quality habits or methods of the others in the group along with not all of us having the same – or similar – base knowledge about the material made for some difficulties. Compounding this is the very reason a lot of us are taking online courses, our professional and personal lives. We have one member of the group who is moving across several states which makes it difficult for them, though they have been extremely motivated and successful in task completion. I have been transitioning from working night shift to day shift while training a new staff member and dealing with a major predatory investigation that has resulted in long, odd working hours. Finally we all do our school work on different schedules as our other lives allow which can hinder communication and series task completion. The group however has been proactive and diligent in ensuring work is being
I am on target with meeting the weekly milestone deadlines and the content requirements. However, as I complete the final synthesis paper I will edit the sections within Digication to reflect any changes made within the paper that are relevant. I have yet to upload a professional photograph, but when I have one taken, I will add this to the welcome page above the quotation image. When I began using Digication, it was time consuming to grow accustomed to how to maneuver around and complete tasks, which included editing the background, when customizing it to reflect my unique identity as an MSW student and an individual. Now that I have been utilizing it on a regular basis, making changes has become quicker to accomplish. The process of building my portfolio has helped me
This capstone course has helped me to tie together all the classes I have taken thus far in the program as well as helped me to identify what skills and knowledge I need to continue working on. The capstone presentation, as well as class, helped me to practice strength-based language and be conscious of how I describe my client’s when presenting. It can be a habit to use negative language to describe a problem-saturated story and unintentionally describe a patient’s story in a way that comes off as stigmatizing. This class helped me become conscious and tactful of how I word sensitive circumstances. It was a great experience to present my patient’s case to the class and practice being thoughtful on how I portrayed my patient’s presenting
What I liked about this term was the events we were able to organize and help out with. For this class specifically, group work is what really pushes everyone to learn. Although we may fool around in class, I know that our group has actually learned some skills whether they realize it or not. At the moment, I don’t think anything could be done to improve my
