My main takeaway from the capstone experience is to have compassion for the disfranchised population rather it is the single mothers or the homeless population etc. Additionally, it is important to behave ethically, practice inclusiveness and with integrity. The clients need to be able to trust that you are genuine in your intention to help them and they must feel understood. What I found difficult with the capstone was searching for resources that were valid. Some of the resources had phone numbers that were no longer in service and/or the link to the website no longer existed. This process was frustrating and time-consuming as every resource had to be verified. However, once the resource guide was completed, it turned out to be the most rewarding
Everyone is likely to experience some form of discrimination or prejudice; as is anyone capable of acting prejudiced towards others. On April 5th, 1968, a teacher in Riceville, Iowa named Jane Elliot conducted an experiment with her third grade class that dealt with the concept of discrimination; and was documented in Peters’ 1985 ‘A Class Divided’. The exercise originally took place the day after Martin Luther King was assassinated. The documentary is an eye opener to the world of racism and discrimination. Bucher (2010) describes racism as “discrimination based on the belief that one race is superior to another” (97). According to Bucher (2010) “discrimination is defined as the
This paper is a personal reflection of Team Erie’s performance in Phase One of Capsim.
CBT expects clients to take an active role in their learning, in the session and between sessions. I would implement homework assignments at each of Evans session and review them at the start of the next session. In addition, I would incorporate Socratic questioning, role playing, imagery, guided discovery, and behavioral experiments with Evan.
school, I found it hard to believe a professional school would actually have to recruit minority students to fill its quotas. Nevertheless, thinking back to Karl Krebs, a.k.a. Karl K. Krebs, M.D., Keystone, Class of 1974, I realized Freddy was probably right. Interested in the Minority Program from an educational perspective, I asked Freddy to continue.
This reflection paper focuses on student learning outcome number four (current research findings regarding family and caregiver stress) and the chronic illness of bronchiectasis and its effects on the caregiver, including role stress and strain.
The video was very informative in describing how CBT can be used. I have seen CBT used frequently in our programs, however the effectiveness I fear is not as good as the data would have us believe. I think CBT can be used however only with certain clients and cultures. CBT have been criticized for focusing too much on the power of positive thinking, being too techniques oriented, and working to eliminate symptoms but failing to explore the underlying causes of difficulties (Corey, 2013). I work in a community with majority of our clients are African Americans and Hispanic. Most of the clients in the communities are poverty stricken, and have difficult lives. Using CBT which only focus on the now and positive thoughts can be a difficult concept
Looking back at project 3, I felt very happy with the essay I produced. I am not one to enjoy writing since I usually do not feel very confident in my writing. I felt the work I produced through project 3 was one of my best. I put a lot of effort into this essay and it showed in my final draft. With this being said, after comparing my essay to the rubric I gave myself a 3.64 overall on this project for many reasons. This essay in no means was perfect, but I learned from my strengths and weaknesses.
My plan and dissemination and implementation for my capstone project is to educate the nurses on the importance of teaching parents about the proper use of skin-to-skin contact. I plan on implementing this project by providing the nurses with the latest evidence based practice so that they can help implement this in their education in the NICU unit at Mount Sinai. Nurses are viewed as reliable source by the patient therefore it is important for us to implement good quality teaching. When I present this project to the unit I will make the following recommendations: to examine and reinforce the education among nurses in the unit and to encourage parents to attend a two hour hands on training course before discharge on skin-to-skin contact.
This semester I learned a lot about writing in English 151. It has been a roller coaster ride with these essays for me this semester. I learned step by step how to write a good essay and how to have your readers be engaged in what you’re trying to tell them. Each essay I did has taught me something valuable I can take to the next level of English. I feel as if as the semester went by I did not take my writing that seriously and that reflected in my grades I received in each essay. It made me a better student and writer and it will reflect next semester. In this essay, I will reflect on what I learned throughout this semester that you should apply in your writing when you begin English 151.
While yes, I scored all areas 10, that is not just a quick answer. I have worked closley with all of these areas over the year and have been very pleased with how profesional and helpful each and every area has been. From Keita helping to get HIPAA training for a consoltent to Leo quickly fixing issues that have come up with my computer or the network. From Mark and Paul working closley with me to create scripts that save time with interanl audits and networking issues with other agencies to Tim quickly helping with a DHHS leagle question. From working with Bill on the “Bringing Something to the Table” article to Janice helping me with a state car. From Julia helping me find people who are in meetings that end up in different places then where
I know my family has had an effect on who I am as being individual and who I will become a counselor. One reason I feel confident about working in the forensics is that I have thick skin and it is not a lot that I cannot handle. I have learned one’s family can have an effect on them and I am empathic to those who have family struggles whether big or small because it makes a difference. Also, I am aware of how hard it is to break the family cycle and deviate from the negative family traits.
In terms of sales and marketing, we adapted our strategy based on how the products played in each segment. Our strategy was to spend efficiently in marketing & sales to keep the customer awareness and accessibility high for the premium products, while maintaining a decent level of awareness and accessibility in other segments.
This capstone course has helped me to tie together all the classes I have taken thus far in the program as well as helped me to identify what skills and knowledge I need to continue working on. The capstone presentation, as well as class, helped me to practice strength-based language and be conscious of how I describe my client’s when presenting. It can be a habit to use negative language to describe a problem-saturated story and unintentionally describe a patient’s story in a way that comes off as stigmatizing. This class helped me become conscious and tactful of how I word sensitive circumstances. It was a great experience to present my patient’s case to the class and practice being thoughtful on how I portrayed my patient’s presenting
The creation of my storify was a positive experience for me. Not only did it allow me to enhance my understanding of my Unit three topic and revisit my original paper, but it sparked my creative sense. Weaving the various multimedia sources together and blending them with text to make a coherent, linear story was a difficult task. To adapt my unit three task to unit four, I had to make some minor adjustments and refocus the scope of my project. To adapt to the new setting, it was awkward to reuse the same exact topic and sources. Not only such, but it was stimulating to create a new avenue to explore. As I continued further into the project, I began to see the advantages and disadvantages to working with storify instead of the standard paragraph-by-paragraph essay. An interesting aspect to this unit is that we were publishing our projects for the rest of
During my first semester here at Stout I learned lot in all my classes but especially in my Composition 1 class. As I did not have the greatest English teachers in the past this semester was very helpful to me. Not only was I able to expand my composition skills but also how to think and develop my writing even further. I could apply these new skills in my speech class as well and it gave me a better help when preparing and presenting my speeches.
