The Department of Public Safety budget proposal was presented by Director James Wright. After providing a basic outline on what the department does, Wright asserted that they have been experiencing recruitment issues with attracting individuals into the academy. As a consequence, they have implemented several strategies to increase their outreach efforts through their official recruitment video, their veterans recruitment initiative through job fairs, and the proposal of a new applicant tracking software. This software program will allow applicants to apply for position(s) using their mobile device, broadcast real time openings to their website, track the progress of each recruit, and create reports that will allow the department to get …show more content…
As a result, he asked why the department didn’t simply cut back on recruits and award that money that was going to be spent in the classroom to current sworn officers. Wright stated that the department is doing everything they can to better screen applicants and ensure that they are selecting individuals who will not quit during the academy training. Assemblywoman Bustamante-Adams inquired whether or not there was an exit interview for officers that left the division. Wright said that they do indeed conduct exit interviews for every individual that leaves the division. According to Wright, the majority of individuals who leave have cited the lack of sufficient compensation as the primary reason. They enjoy working for the department, however they make their decision based on what’s best for their family.

He has been hearing concerns/objections from officers over having to purchase new uniforms when they were content with their current ones. Assemblyman Edwards asked why the department didn’t simply give the officers the money directly and allow them to spend that money how they chose. Speaker Frierson asked Wright to provide this information at a later date since this was not the appropriate committee to bring up that particular
In 1996 the city of Cleveland began a $750 million Plant Enhancement Program. The program’s goal was to renovate and modernize the city’s four water treatment facilities, which are among the 10 largest in the US, and were built in 1856; over 500 million gallons of water are pumped to Cleveland residents daily. In the following paper I attempt to provide with an overview of the Baldwin
“The federal budget is the yearly plan for how the US government will spend the money it takes from taxes and borrowing.” After thoroughly analyzing the federal budget from 2012, it is unquestionably evident that a majority of the money is being put into a few major categories, leaving room for the rest of the smaller categories to be financially neglected. Is this fair? It seems that the money could be more fairly distributed, and that there is room for cuts in some of the larger categories, to improve the littler ones. In each of the three budget clusters, the US Government should make adjustments in the way it is distributing money; changes involving the big five, the middle
On October 19, 2017, the Senate approved a budget that would aid Republican efforts to create tax cuts in a vote of 51-49. In essence, this budget would expand the federal deficit by 1.5 trillion dollars over a span of 10 years. According to Republicans, the intent of these tax cuts is to create more jobs as well as providing more income to Americans as a whole. However, many Democrats are starkly opposed to this budget because of how it will increase the federal deficit as well as reducing the potency of federal revenue provided by taxes. With the budget being approved by the Senate, it is now up to the House to adopt its version of the budget to officially make it into law.

Since Florida MIS is relatively small business focusing in part of the Tampa area the budget can still be considered low. Until the time that Florida MIS expands the budget can be kept at a minimum. To determine the budget for structuring the social media platform there needs to be budgeting in salaries, system tools, and networking.

According to Shultz (2002), individuals and businesses fund the Federal Government through personal income and payroll taxes. With the unemployment rate at 8.1% as of January 1st, 2014 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014), created an overall shortage in both individual and business taxes.
While oil represents about 7 percent of Louisiana 's revenue, its budget structure is more complex than other oil-producing states -- and probably most similar to Kansas in its budget woes, according to Leachman. Edwards 's fiscal 2017 budget proposal includes dramatic cuts to virtually every part of state government: higher education, healthcare, the attorney general 's office, and youth services. Some budget experts trace the start of Louisiana 's revenue problems to the repeal of income tax increases under what has been termed the Stelly Plan, a restructuring of state revenue that also called for lowering the sales tax. The repeal came as Louisiana was awash in one-time revenue, including federal funding to the state to aid recovery
In President Trumps’ 2018 Budget Proposal cuts, the one that concerns me the most is the Department Of Housing And Urban Development. It concerns me the most because it would be devastating to the large number of low income families across the United States of America that rely solely on subsidize housing programs issued by the government. Various agency programs help pay a percentage of families or individuals rent. Without funding these cuts will definitely have a negative impact on the poor, seniors, individuals with disabilities, low income families and the working class. Once this change begins to take an effect it will not be good for families or individuals that receive income benefits from SSI, welfare or wages from low paying jobs.

To this date, the erstwhile colonised peoples are still calling for reparations to be paid to them, citing moral obligations of the colonisers and/or settlers, and this call is mostly being made to the white governments in Canada and the United States and to the British government in India. Let us look at three recent cases of such demands and examine how the governments in question have consistently failed to provide “adequate reparations” (as understood by the victimised populations) to the peoples they have wronged. This failure of “adequate compensations” can be ascribed to a guilt that either stems from an inherent moral high ground of the people in power, or because, as Hannah Arendt insists, “[...] guilt is strictly personal.” In that case, what the current generation of white settlers and British population feels is not guilt but simply a tedious sense of obligation for the mistakes of their ancestors.
