Abstract
Biology is the study of life. Biology talks about organisms and how they react to certain toxins, when you mix things up. There are nine fields in biology. Some examples of the fields are evolutionary biology, cellular biology, and molecular biology. Biology has a long history. Biology is beneficial in many ways. Biology has impacted people in negative and positive ways. People who study biology are called biologists.
Biology, the Science of Life Biology has a long history. Early humans would study biology. They had to study the animals that they hunted, and they had to know where to find the plants that they gathered for food. Biology is the study of life. Biology comes from Greek words. There are nine fields in biology. Some of the nine

It is the organisms that work to create new things. An organism is an individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form. All organisms come together and create something new. The organisms take energy from the environment, and from the food they eat. The new organisms that the old ones created will soon make new organisms. This forms a cycle. The cycle never ends until something bad happens to the organisms. An easy way of saying all of this is by saying that the cycle continues until something bad happens to the organisms. Biologists are the important scientists of biology. Biologists study the structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution of living organisms. Biologists study living organisms. For example, they study humans, plants, animals, and many other living organisms. When they study these organisms, they find out many things about life and they study the medicine that we use, so they can know what types of ways we will react to the medicine. People from long ago, would use biology to study the animals that they hunted, and the plants they ate. Indeed, biologists are very important to
“I try to show the public that chemistry, biology, physics, astrophysics is life. It is not some separate subject that you have to be pulled into a corner to be taught about.” as my friend Neil deGrasse Tyson states, science is life. Biology is the greatest form of life. Where-ever a person looks, biology is there. It is the glue that is holding this world together. It effects my personal life and also society. Without biology there would be no people, animals, or plants. Biology is truly a life subject.
Upon starting my freshman year in high school, I had been in honors Biology, and it quickly became my least favorite subject. Biology was something I couldn’t understand, no matter how much
Professor Snyder’s degree is in natural resource management in environmental science, which is like a subcategory in Biology. She told me that she always wanted to know how things worked as a kid, and as a result, would take things apart to try to figure out how exactly they worked. Ultimately that was what Biology is; exploring how things work in the world around us. Another degree she had in mind was in Statistics but realized that the subject plays a role in Biology, so she went with the Biology major instead. Another question that involved biology was what was her favorite and least favorite section to teach. Her favorite is genetics and teaching the introduction of Biology whereas her least favorite is more of the physics aspect of
Biology is a broad field, covering the minute workings of chemical machines inside our cells, to broad theories of ecosystems and global climate change.
• Physiology - Noun 1. The branch of biology that deals with the normal functions of living organisms and their parts. 2. The way in which a living organism or bodily part functions.
The study of biology is relevant now because it has everything to do with life and life is everywhere on Earth. We can use biology to keep that from changing. Biology has helped us grow food, protect the environment, tell us how the body works, and so much more. Thanks to biology viruses and diseases can also be controlled. Biology has advanced the world so much and without it everything would be completely different.
Photosynthesis, respiration, the classes of animals, what makes the human body work, how viruses work: all of these are so exciting in my eyes. Science is real and usable in daily life and interested me when it came to application. What to eat, why you think the way you do, what makes your body work, how the world goes round, all of these directly affect your life every day. The same can't be said for European history or learning German. I can't name one time I spoke German outside of high school. But biology studies things like how your body works and that is something that happens every day even if you are
Conservation biology is the study of environmental problems that are caused by human actions. This would be the scientific study of the Earth’s biodiversity with the whole purpose from being extinct. In this field it helps in putting together many theories from other fields such as ecology, demography, taxonomy and genetics. This would help in the understanding of the management of species in their ecosystems, breeding, genetic analysis and their resoration of their
Biology is under the college of Arts and Sciences and is categorized in the Biological Sciences department. The main chair/director is Dr. Sam Atkinson with an assistant, Kendra Donahue. The Biological Science department is located in the Biology Building 210.
Explain what biology is and describe its major branchesAccording to wisegeek, Biology is the scientific exploration and study of life. Biologists study the structure, function, growth, origin, evolution and distribution of living organisms (livescience). In fact, the origin of the word biology comes from Ancient Greece, from the Greek word “bios” meaning life and “logy” meaning study (oxforddictionaries). There many divisions of biology, but all of them can fit under the “umbrella” of three different studies, Zoology, Botany, and Microbiology (wisegeek). Respectively, Zoology studies animals, Botany studies plants and fungi, and Microbiology studies microorganisms, like bacteria sometimes things that don’t fit under the group of living things, like viruses (wisegeek).
Biological Anthropology is the study of human biology within the framework of evolution. There are four subfields of Biological Anthropology; genetics, human variation, paleoanthropology, and primatology. Primatology is the study of non-human primates and I find it the most interesting of the four subfields.
The biosphere is the earth, the higher power that houses every living thing and non living thing, ecosystems, communities, populations and organisms. Then the organ systems and organs, tissues, cells, organelles and molecules, atoms all make the organism. This goes back to one of the seven properties of life known as order that is showing the organization and the different stages which make up the biosphere. Ecosystems are a place where all living and nonliving things exist. For example in the rainforest there are water, trees, animals and everything needed for all living things to survive. Living things need to interact with nonliving things such as animals drinking water in order to keep them hydrated and healthy. Within an ecosystem, there are communities. Within an ecosystem, you will not see a fish living in a tree. They would be in their community, the ocean, along with whales, seaweed, plants and jellyfish. Within the community, there are different types of species such a group of whales that are one species or a group of jellyfish another species. One cannot class a whale with a jellyfish. Although they live in the same communities they carry different DNA and are from different populations that also goes back to reproduction; organisms can only reproduce their kind. Then there are organisms meaning one specific living thing such as a jellyfish or a human. Organisms are
The definition of marine biology is a branch of marine science involving the study of animals and plants that live in the ocean and the shoreline and how they interact with the environment. This field specializes
Molecular biology also has a lot to do with evolution. Molecular biology (DNA) is the study of DNA. DNA is found in our cells. DNA is who we are. DNA can be traced back using advanced technology. Using this we can compare and contrast the differences in DNA from past species to present species.
Biologists are essential for the progress in many fields within society, especially health related fields. Biologists are the people who dedicate much of their time and career focusing on the science of life and living organisms. There are many biologists today but the one who stands out to me the most is Timothy P. Cripe.
