For this written assignment, I will imagine that I am on a team in my workplace and have identified a new best practice to implement. I will describe the steps of implementing this practice and research about how change comes about in the workplace. Knowledge-focused triggers come from staff when they read research, attend research conferences, or experience evidence-based practice guidelines that is published by federal or specialty organizations (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2014). You must form a team that is responsible for establishing, implementing, and evaluating the evidence-based practice topic. Research and literature on the topic must be retrieved. The evidence on the new practice must be graded to justify the effectiveness of the body of evidence. Within my workplace, the first step to implementing a new practice is a needs assessment, whether it be metric or a process based on data or outcome. After this has been completed a research path is the next step. This is based on research team or a governing body that gives approval or not for implementation of a new practice. Process or procedural change goes through several different councils. Literature to Support New Practice When trying to implement a new practice, there are several tools that must be considered to use. First, you must ask a focused clinical question, searching literature is another important component, screening your findings, appraising each article’s findings, and applying the findings. There are many different types of articles, such as: diagnosis articles, prognosis articles, harm articles, and meta-analysis articles. Having the appropriate literature to support your new practice

Evidence-based practice is an approach used by health care professionals to continually use current best evidence-based research to make ethical and reliable decisions regarding patient care. “Research to promote evidence-based practice is becoming more and more a part of the regular work of health care leaders” (Grand Canyon University, 2015, p. 1). However, it is important to determine the difference between solid research and flawed research that provides unreliable inferences. Evidence-based research includes focusing on a clinical question; and includes the review and incorporation of several studies to strengthen the results of the new study (Grand Canyon University, 2015). Roddy et al. and Ganz et al. articles will be assessed to determine if the recommended changes were backed by solid research that warrants changes in a hospital.

Having enough evidence helps people determine whether to do something or not. To provide the best possible treatment for each patient you have to take information and see what will work best for each of your patients. Some will work and some will not work.
