A hero is not always a person that can fly or that has superhuman powers. A hero is somebody that helps another person out in a time of need. This can be anything from being in a life or death situation, or just stepping in and helping when another person is getting bullied. A Hero can be anybody, young, old, man or woman. However, you do have to have some special characteristics that not everybody has. Heroes have to want to help, put others before themselves, be brave and courageous, and be a leader. Beowulf is a hero because he displayed a majority of the traits that it takes to be one. When he heard of the troubles in Herot, the brave man dropped everything and immediately assembled his crew, got a ship, and started his journey to Herot. “Beowulf chose the mightiest men he could …show more content…
The reason that my dad is one of my heroes is because he's done a lot of things to save, and improve my life. When I was little, my mom thought I was choking on a penny. My dad drove home and to the hospital so fast that he lost a cop on the way. Although it might sound like he's not a hero because of this one reason, if he didn't hurry I might not be here today. He also worked a unhealthy and dangerous job back when we lived in Washington. His motivation was to make sure that our family had what we needed and wanted. Providing for my family was at the top of his priorities. My mom said, “He worked on ladders 3 stories high while breathing in bad fumes from paint and stain. By the end of the day he was usually passed out on the couch by 7.” When he wasn't working, he was usually either doing stuff with me like passing a football around, playing around in the backyard, or riding four wheelers. He even did cub scouts with me even though it wasn’t what he really wanted to do when he got off work. Not only did my dad save my life, but he also helped shape me into who I am today with the help of my
As we grow up throughout life, we hold onto many heroes as they have impacted our life. Looking into my personal life, my hero consists of my mother, Darla Linden. She defined a hero as “a person stepping up in a situation without thinking they also are in harm 's way”(Linden, Darla). Throughout my lifetime my mom has been there for me since day one and has helped nurtured me.. She sacrifices many things for myself and for my family by providing us with our daily needs. I can always count on her to point me in the right direction by pursuing my dreams and wishes. I admire her caring heart and faithfulness the most because she would drop anything instantly to help someone else in need. She supports me in all of my extra curricular activities and motivates myself to bring out my full potential. I get inspired by her courageous character by never backing down to a challenge and always finishing through. When I asked my mom who she picked as her hero she said, “the service men and women of all branches who fight for our country”(Linden, Darla). They provide us with safety by sacrificing
An Epic Hero is a brave, noble character in an epic poem, and they are admired for great achievements or affected by a grand event. In another point of view, A Epic Hero has to have strength, faith and Braveness in order to perform heroic deeds. In the story Beowulf , Beowulf is an epic hero because he kills Grendel the monster, Grendel’s Mother and a dragon that no one else could have defeated. All the things Beowulf did throughout this story showed evidence of an epic hero, also with his personality and dedication. Beowulf is an epic hero because of how he sacrificed his life to perform heroic deeds. Also for his extraordinary strength, Braveness, and Faith.
Ricky Martin once said, “Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Ghandi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity.” Almost anyone can be a hero, as long as they have the courage and the maturity to understand and respect those who they attempt to help. Despite the fact that a hero cannot save everyone, being heroic is about placing others before oneself and strive to help those who need it the most.
History has many characters that show character traits that have a positive or negative effect on people around them. The character Beowulf from the epic poem Beowulf has three character traits that stand out including strength, loyalty, and bravery.
Why is beowulf a hero? He is a hero because he protects people from monsters and dragons. He will fight without weapons or with weapons. Some of the monsters he can’t fight with weapons. Beowulf is the strongest among men. Beowulf can kill monster with his bare hands.
Beowulf’s bravery, strength, and loyalty present him as a hero. Beowulf showed he was a brave hero from youth to death. He always puts his life in the face of danger in order to protect innocent people. Beowulf even tells the Queen of Danes “This was my thought, when my thanes and I/ bent to the ocean and entered our boat,/ that I would work the will of your people/ fully, or fighting fall in death,” (Beowulf, Chp 9).
When I think of a hero I picture the impossible. For most people a hero may be someone they admirer, but it is much more than that. A hero is someone who is willing to take a step outside of the box and do the unexpected, someone who is willing to take the extra steps. Beowulf is a hero because he did everything voluntarily and kept good morals and ethics while doing it.
Throughout the story Beowulf displays many attributes of a hero. For example, he displays bravery, honor and strength in many situations throughout the entire story, proving to everyone why he is a hero. Although these aren’t all of the characteristics of a hero, these are the most important of a hero back in Beowulf’s time and these characteristics is what most people strived to have but only came to a select few.
What is a hero? A hero can be defined as many things to military people, first responders or simply just casual civilians walking about the streets it all comes to one thing. Three traits i think hero's have are people that are willing to stand up for others natural born leaders and brave people.all of these make a great hero that can be hidden inside of everybody weather they know it or not they could be a hero just waiting to see something then spring into action and release hero traits truthfully everybody can be a hero.
In his brave and fantastic tale, Beowulf has shown many characteristics of a hero. He’s battled those that kill for their own pleasure, and rid the Dane’s of an intelligent and ruthless killer set on revenge. He has returned to his homeland to become the strong, undefeated King of Geats, where he proves that, when the dragon kills him, the undefeated can be defeated. Several of Beowulf’s traits, characteristics, and abilities, throughout his great story, are considered heroic.
Joseph Campbell once said a hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself ( Nobel Books).Beowulf is a hero and reminds me of someone else i know in my life that is a hero and that is my stepdad he is a hero to me. Beowulf and my step dad are heroic figures as they display true qualities of a hero and they are courage and bravery, Selflessness,Humility. Patience, and Caring those are the heroic qualities Beowulf and my step dad have. My step dad has courage and bravery just like Beowulf did in the movie and book.
Being a hero is when you’re selfless, brave, and humble. Heroes are the characters that learn the most and do the most affective actions. There is always going to be a hero in every story, movie, or real life scenario. A hero doesn’t have to be the one who saves someone’s life or fights off evil and is always wearing a cape. A hero can be as simple as someone doing the right thing not for themselves but for the good of someone else.
Epic heroes have many common characteristics, many of which are portrayed by the hero Beowulf throughout the poem. These common characteristics are generally heroic in nature. Beowulf has inhuman strength which is most notably displayed when he tears the monster Grendel's arm clean off. He is extraordinarily loyal to his men, his own king, and the king Hrothgar. His most impressive heroic trait however, is his courage.
The word “hero” has had many different definitions throughout history, but all of them seem to include something about being courageous and having a desire to help other people. In the epic poem Beowulf, the main character (Beowulf) has many heroic qualities. Beowulf was a hero born in Geatland who sailed out to Denmark to protect the people. This piece of literature displays to the reader what Beowulf is like in his youth and in his old age. Over the course of his life, he shows many heroic qualities, making him a hero.
Throughout the epic poem of Beowulf, the main protagonist Beowulf is shown to thoroughly exemplify all of the traits of the epic hero. His heroism is displayed in two distinct sections of the epic, contrasting his original uninhibited heroism and later, his aged mature heroism. The multiple quests undertaken over the course of his life serve to display the Beowulfs qualities and the application thereof to the monomyth. In the beginning of Beowulf, Beowulf was portrayed as the pinnacle of the young, brave, chivalrous knight-like warriors expected during the Anglo-Saxon period.
