There are few things more satisfying than knowing you have just made someone’s day or knowing that you made someone feel so much better about themselves, and as an esthetician you get to do this every day. Being an esthetician is a career filled with gratification and “thank yous”. To become an esthetician, it is usually required that you have your high school diploma, GED, or an equivalent to enroll in beauty school to complete an esthetics training program. In some states, they will accept students who completed as little as only their freshman year of high school. Depending which school you go to, you will need to complete a certain number of hours before graduating. Most schools require 600 hours, but some require as much as 1,000 hours or as little as 250. You must also pass a state license exam. This number depends on how big of a clientele a person has and if they work part-time or full-time. Estheticians also receive tips. Some benefits of being an esthetician are being able to work with people, for me, this is a big part of the job. I want to be able to listen to people talk about their day and what’s going on in their life while also helping their skin or whatever service they are meeting me for. You also have a wide variety of job options. Some people are more interested in the medical side of esthetics, this will require more training but also have more opportunities to make more money. You will have a flexible schedule because you pretty much make your own schedule. You can choose whether you want to work mornings, afternoons, or evenings. And aside from that all is the emotional rewards of knowing you made someone feel so much better about themselves. It is a very satisfying
