We live in a world where the human race seems to be disconnected. Nowadays it feels that there are not enough people helping each other. I don’t treat life like a competition I look at it and I ask myself how may I help? What may I do to make this world a more suitable place for all to live a comfortable and peaceful life? I yearn to come forward and fulfill my role and contribute to our society in any way possible. Nursing is my calling for helping others. It sounds cliché, this I know, but it’s what I desire and what I decided to do with my body, mind, and soul.

Registered Nurses need to genuinely have people skills in order to care for patients and their families. Registered Nurses need to educate people on health care and how to take care of themselves during injuries. The amount of RN's has been growing at a percentage of 19%, which is faster than average ("Registered Nurses: Occupational Outlook Handbook"). This is excellent because there are more Registered Nurses, therefore, there are more patients being cared for. Being a Registered Nurse requires an associates degree, specific qualities such as people skills and sympathy, and knowledge about medical care to be able to do the duties.

After persuing your career as a Registered Nurse, dramatic changes will be very noticable in your life. You will find yourself doing things you'd never thought you'd do, and also seeing a variety of things you never imagined seeing. Being in the career path as such, can bring on a healthier, yet less stressful lifestyle. Becoming a Registered Nurse would be a life changer. Going back to when I was a novice nurse, I was nervous, scared, afraid of making medication error, charting errors or fail to recognized patients worsening symptoms. These fears, made me vigilant, focused and kept me on my toes at all times. No matter which part of nursing I ended up as I grew up the from medical surgical nursing to stepdown unit nursing to intensive care nursing, I felt those fears in every step of my growth and they helped me be a better nurse for my pateints. Transitioning from a student to a BSN graduate is very scary. I have already made plans to stay working in Illinois but I have had discussions with my Sister in-law about steps that I can take to work out of state. High standards and expectations are required to achieve a certain level of competency to prepare for the role of taking care of lives. Therefore, nursing should not just be considered a job, or a career, but also a profession with heart.

I love compasses. I collect them and admire how such a small device can help people find the way. Nurses play a huge role in the society, as they work with different classes of people from little children to the elderly, from hospitals to privately owned businesses. Furthermore, nurses are not only healthcare providers, but they are also teachers and promoters of good health. They partake in teaching at hospitals, but also promote health education in places like schools and offices.
