Banning books is one of many ways that we are killing children's imagination. Taking books away from anyone is something that should never happen. When we take books away we are taking away a safe place for children and we are taking away knowledge of our past. We should be proud to put different books on a shelf and say that we can have our own opinions. Books should never be banned from a public library or school because we disagree with what is on the inside of one. No one should have the right to take away our right to read no matter how high up in the system they are. We have the right to read books that we want to no matter what content is inside of it. Books should be banned because children shouldn’t be exposed to the real world until they are older and they shouldn’t be allowed to get this information from a school or public library. Children shouldn’t be exposed to violence, sex, drug use, or other inappropriate topics until they are old enough to make their own decisions and be safe about them. Young adults shouldn’t have to read about these things while they are in high school and trying to get an education. Children should be protected from learning too much about all of these things so that they don’t get ideas on doing any of them. We should be protecting our children from the world as long as we can. Young adults and children’s parents have the right to decide what information and topics their children are reading. They also can have the right to decide what their children should be exposed to and when. Books should be banned because parents should have the right to say what their children read and when they read it. Also, they don't know what their children are reading unless they know what is on the shelves at their child's school. Parents should have the right to challenge book they find inappropriate for their children to be reading also they have the right to say what their children should be able to get their hands on in a public or school library. This being said a librarian as a roadblock is not enough to stop children from reading inappropriate books. Librarians can’t always make sure that children are checking out what their parents would find suitable for their children. They don’t know what the child’s parent will accept and what they will find inappropriate. Also, they don’t always know if the child is allowed to read about certain topics because they don’t have specific instructions for each person who comes into the library. Just because we take books out of libraries doesn't stop people from reading those
