1. Psychology has contributed to the advancement of social issues in many ways. Psychologists challenged societies way of thinking on many social issues, one being segregation in schools. Psychology was used to show the affects of segregation and that psychologically homosexuals were no different than heterosexuals. Psychology has helped drop stereotypes and stigmas and helped create the way of thinking that most of society now has.

AP Psychology was my very First AP class. I am very thrilled that my first class was Mrs.Shelnutt. She is a terrific teacher. During the beginning I struggled with keeping up with the work and studying. The number one thing that you need to do for this class is read the book. Throughout the semester this was my one flaw that I couldn’t do consistently but the times I did I got a good grade on the test. Another important thing is the interactive notebook. Throughout the course you have to fill out a notebook with vocabulary from each of the chapters. This is an important study tool for when it comes time to study for the test and all the comps. Asking question after question because my mind can never get enough of the brain candy we call “information” has come close to driving my parents near insane. I want to know why they think the way the do, why they differ in mindsets and yet work so well together, what drives them to make the decisions they do, and how they feel about the situations around them. I have loved psychology long before I even knew it was a subject to be studied.

I am not the kind of person that backs down from a challenge. When I was offered to take AP Psychology I already knew I'd be taking two other AP classes. I knew from personal experience that AP classes came with stress and a lot of rigorous work. However, it didn't take long for me to come up with a response: “I'd love to take AP Psych.”

Last school year I decided to take a course on Advanced Anatomy to receive science credits. Little did I know it would the best class ever. Anatomy has helped me confirm my interest in focusing on the medical field in college, specifically nursing. We learned about the majority of the body systems, with the skeletal system and the brain being my favorite. The outline of the body and the many tasks of the brain were my favorite things to learn and study. When it was time to dissect, I was hesitant, but I soon learned that I very much enjoyed looking at the body and where things were located. My interest in psychology first developed while taking the AP Biology course in my junior year. The chapter that caught my attention the most was the section on animal behavior.
