One night, all the animals of Mr. Jones’ farm, gather together in the barn to listen to Old Major, the pig, tell them about a dream he had, in which no animal had to live under the reign of human owners which would happen after a large rebellion against the people that treated them as slaves. After his death, which occurred only three nights after that meeting, the rest of the animals spent months working on plans to make the rebellion that Old Major had spoken of, into a reality. In the beginning the pigs, particularly Snowball and Napoleon, which had naturally become the leaders, faced difficulties convincing the other animals that this was the right thing to do.
Mr. Jones, the farmer, goes to sleep drunk one night when the most respected animal calls a meeting. Major, as the pig is called, waits until everyone is settled to begin describing the gist of the dream he had had the night before. He tells them that their lives are much harder than they need be. The only reason why they aren’t happy is that they must deal with humans. He says humans are useless and profit off everyone else’s hard work. Unless they rebel, their lives and those of their children will never get better. The group decides that all four-legged or winged animals are friends and will not be harmed when they eventually rebel. Then, Major sings a lively old song that everyone immediately loves, Beasts of England, but they all

When others were not doing much he was giving that much more going above and beyond the call of duty. Snowball and Boxer
Mr Frederick gives Napoleon fake money; not only getting free timber but also blowing up the windmill. This led to a small battle but very hurtful, since boxer got hurt really bad. The start of building the windmill the third time was a victory to Napoleon. While working on the windmill boxer falls when he was breaking the rocks for the windmill; boxer was later sold to a horse slaughterer because of the conditions he was in. Time passed and all of Napoleon's promises about the retiring age weren't true or at least weren't discussed anymore. After two years the pigs begin to violate every commandment and changed it to “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”, and they began to walk on two legs. At the end of the book Mr Pilkington comes over to Animal Farm (which was changed to Manor Farm and also the skull of Old Major was taken off), who plays cards with the pigs. While the animals watch the pigs and men play cards they weren't able to see the difference between them; “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was

The pigs get many special privileges such as, getting to sleep in the farmhouse beds, drink alcohol and have crops and food specifically reserved for them. In contrast, the other farm animals sleep on straw, drink from the pond and are always starving. The final commandment ‘All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others’ is a strong indication that corruption has swallowed the boar. Furthermore, Napoleon has obtained both ‘Animal Hero, First class’ and ‘Animal Hero, Second class’ showing irony through the fact that for all to be equal there should not be a class system such as an upper class and working class. The inequality within the farm slowly spread through the farm until the pigs were almost completely different from actual farm animals and considered more as ‘man’.

I went up to my parents and asked them if we could go in. With their approval, we made our way over there. As I entered the barns, a potent smell came over me and I heard the grunts and squeals of the pigs. As I stuck my hand through the grates of their pens, they curiously sniffed at my fingers. Throughout the day, we passed through barns of all sorts of animals; rabbits, cattle, sheep, but I was still intrigued by the short, chubby snouts that I had seen earlier.

Chapter 8 begins by highlighting the idea that the animals were still wound up after the executions of their fellow comrades. The animals notice that yet another commandment has been changed but like many of their other opinions they have been influenced and changed by Napoleon. Napoleon grew to become more of a sovereign as time moved on, exemplified by special privileges such as executing orders and waking up before any of the other animals. Napoleon was no longer referred simply to his name but rather by words such as leader and “Father of All Animals”. His power is generally officialized in a poem by Minimus declaring his virtues and beliefs. This poem was inscribed in the barn with the same excellence and thought that was put into creating
