There have been 43 presidents and out of all of the presidents the seventh president, Andrew Jackson is the best. President Jackson had a lot of experience from growing up, when he severed in the militia as a soldier and a general, and the experience he had as a president. Andrew was born on March 15, 1767 in Waxhaw’s region on the border of North and South Carolina. The exact location of his birth is uncertain. Andrews mother’s name was Elizabeth, his father’s name was Andrew. He had two brothers a two-year old brother named Hugh, and a baby brother named Robert that was six months. He was told to lead a militia from Nashville to New Orleans, Louisiana. When they got to Louisiana Jackson was told to tell his men to go home but they were still exhausted from their long march there and had no supplies with them. Jackson wrote to his wife and gave up his horse to his sick men and told his other officers to follow his lead. He marched his militia there and by the end of the war they made the Treaty of Fort Jackson. “This was Jackson’s first victory in his military career” (Doherty, pg. 34). In 1812 the British had captured Washington D.C. capital and this was the first and only time anyone had ever captured the U.S. capital. The British was trying so hard to get to the Mississippi River and the British had 2,000 soldiers. On December 24, 1814 there was a treaty signed ending the war but New Orleans didn’t hear about this until after the war. Then after the war of 1812 Jackson marched his men into a Native American war. Jackson pushed the Native Americans from Georgia to Florida and won by capturing Fort St. Marks.
In 1822 Andrew was nominated for president of the United States by the state legislature of Tennessee. In the 1824 presidential election Jackson was against Henry Clay, and John Quincy Adams. In the election he and Henry Clay lost to Adams. But at the election of 1828 Adams had ran for re-election but he had lost to Andrew
