Not everyone is lucky enough to have the money to go to a private school so most kid now a day are going to public schools. Americans public education system is flawed and it needs to be fix for America to become a more successful country. There are a few different ways to go about improving Americas education system one of the ways is to get rid of standardized test across the nation. The seconded way to help fix the education system is Having better teachers that are more willing to teach can help fix the education system. Public schools are constantly closing and overcrowded class rooms is another problem with the American public-school system.

The American public education system uses these tests for a bench mark to know how students are doing in different states and what areas they need to improve on like math or science. Kira Zalan a editor for U.S. news weekly defines standardized test as “STANDARDIZED TESTS ARE commonly used to measure intelligence and to assign labels indicative of a student's future prospects”. These tested shouldn’t be used to label if someone is smart or not. Standardized testing is a bad idea because its not helping the students improve on the subjects they to improvement on all that is happening is teachers are teaching for the standardized test. Most teachers are focusing on teaching the students on how to past the test not actually learning the subject they need to learn. A lot of great teachers start teaching for the test because they are fearful for their job because the standardized test are also used to determine how affective teachers are and if they are able to teach students the …show more content…
What teachers know is really important to the success of the students they are teaching which in return will benefit the public education system. Teachers are the source of information that the students are learning from and if they’re a bad teacher the students aren’t going to learn much from them and it’s going to hurt the education system. Teachers with English as their seconded langue shouldn’t be allowed to teach. I’ve personally been in classes that had a teacher with foreign accent and the langue barrier made it hard to learn which almost made me fail my sophomore year of high school. The education system should make their standards higher for teachers to be able to teach. Teachers should have to have a higher degree then a bachelor’s degree to be able to teach because they have to know what they’re talking about because they are teaching kids who are the future of this country. If teachers are required to have a high education to teach they should also get paid a lot more then they do now because they have a really important job that is under rated. The laws that protect teachers from getting fired should be reverted so teachers have a cent of urgency and drive to do their best and teach the students the best they can. Not all teachers are bad at teaching it’s just that there are teachers out there that don’t care about their students and their success all they care about is the
There was a time when America’s education system was top-notch according to the culture and society. With time, a myriad of things has changed, but unfortunately what has not evolved is the American education system. The country is still following a system which was not designed for the current global economic climate. Equality, as positive as it sounds is not as sufficient when it comes to education. The system treats students equally yet expect a similar culmination and outcome. Every child has his individuality and distinct abilities; one cannot judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree. Conversely, a few of the prominent reasons why the education system is failing are overcrowded schools, the rise of technology, and following the same old school hours.
Education plays important role in society. It determines the final development of an adult’s personality. In today’s society most jobs require a University degree. To receive a University degree students need to rely on a good education system. Does America provide this? The American education system has relied on the grade point average system for a long time. The problem with this is there is not a universal GPA grade point system varying from course to course. This creates an inaccurate way to determine ones overall achievements. Teachers have different standards than others, grade inflation can occur and students can be exposed to different learning environments. Does the education system need to change to create fairness?
Education is a necessity across the globe, from America to Africa to China. Some education systems, however, are more successful than others and hold differing views and approaches to education. Culture greatly impacts education, which in turn impacts further opportunity. As unfair as it may be, a child’s cultural background largely determines their level of success. The American education system is lacking when compared to various other world cultures, and this is causing the socioeconomic gap to grow. Because of this inadequate education, more and more families are dipping beneath the poverty line. This could be due to poor discipline as well as the diversity of students. The diversity of the students results in a wide array of needs that are not being met by the public education system. This issue could be minimized by working to create a more inclusive academic environment to ensure equality and success.
There are many life issues and affairs people have to adapt too while maturing and growing up. These could include: learning about what kind of person they aspire to be, where they have the desire to live, or what it's like to pay bills. Yet, when and where does one learn to digest all this information? Certainly not in the American education system. Research suggests that Leon Botstein's claim- rules of high school are not the rules of life and that schools need to bring more real world into them- is true and that the American educational system needs to be revised and refined.
Is the education system flaw to many students over the years? The education system in the United States has problems over the years because it has some flaws of helping students to succeed. Students who attend community college or university will have issues that will cost them to be in debt or could not complete it. The system tried many ways to bring students accomplish their degree, but the problem is that students face issues that will affect their goal of reaching their degree. The system has changed in order to fix some problems, however, the results make the prices for most colleges so high that not many students could afford. Not many students are rich because most students are on the benefits from social security or working. There is fifty percent of students that are graduates, while the other fifty percent are undergraduate students. Most colleges are not doing the right job to solve the system; however, they did little effort as they needed the requirements form students in order to meet their standards. My claim of the education system is that many college students drop out of school due to problems such as unprepared students, lack of globalism language, and financial aid needs.
Standardized tests are hurting our educational future. They were implemented for reasons such as evaluating teachers, schools, districts, and so forth, and to determine if students should advance to a higher grade. What standardized tests are actually doing is taking over students’ education. Different levels of the educational system are continuously requiring more tests to assess various objectives, without any evidence that these tests are benefiting students. The effects these tests are having on the education are crippling. Teachers are under a surmountable amount of pressure for their students to achieve high scores, since their careers are in the hands of them. Teachers are reverting to unethical practices to protect their careers. Valuable education time is lost with preparing for and taking of these tests. Students could advance their education further and quicker with less preparation and tests. These tests are not an accurate assessment of students’ abilities since they only assess few subjects. The United States spends more money on education each year than any other country in the world, yet the education system is not thriving. Three decades ago, America was the leader in the quality of high school diplomas, yet, students in the U.S. rate 31st in math literacy and 23rd in science in comparison to the rest of the world. (Federal Reserve Bank of New York) The country that is famous for being the most advanced and innovative country in the world is yielding a generation that is falling behind in the global education race. Public K-12 education is worsening simultaneously with the growing competitiveness of universities. Part of the problem is that teachers are not being paid sufficiently, and many find themselves being laid off. College is getting exponentially more expensive each year. These are only a couple of the issues that the american education system faces today, but the list carries on.
According to 10 Things, Public Education In America Is Getting Right “It Is Inclusive - School is available to all American “school-age” citizens. It’s not like that everywhere else in the world.” Our schools in America can be found anywhere else it available to every in America. This helps schools in growth and how much the government pays the to build up they schools. Also how many students depends on how much they get paid. According to the same article “Funding -This is America, and if there’s one thing Americans can do it's spending money. We fund education annually to the tune of a projected $821 billion in 2013. If it can be bought (it can’t), we’ll figure it out.” We can afford it, unlike other counties. If it helps we can get it one way or other. We have the power and money to do it.Money is not any issue for us but for many it is that's why we are different. According to the same article “It’s difficult to say what it’s like planet-wide so it very well not be a strength of American schools, but the relationships between teachers and students in many of the top classrooms in the United States is very strong, with teachers acting as mentors, guides, content experts, and compasses to navigate our increasingly crazy world.” The students are close with the teachers. Also, the school never fails the student. The student can get this help and succeed. This helps out our future and teacher do not give up on
America’s school system is failing. You have the opportunity to help turn it around. What are you going to do about it? All we are asking is for you to be that person that puts in a word to your superiors about our school system. America is a first world country and we are one of the lowest in the educational systems. America’s future is at stake and you and others can change that. Thank you for taking the time to read
Many states across the country are experiencing teacher shortages. Without enough teachers, we can not successfully educate our children. According to Glori Chaika “Forty-two states issue emergency credentials to people who have taken no education courses and have not taught a day in their lives. Many teachers are hired based solely on their experience leading church or camping groups.” (Chaika) Due to the shortages, States are allowing those who are not even qualified to teach. One can not believe that children are being educated as best as they can be, if those teaching them have no experience or training before hand. Another problem is that teachers are not being place in the fields were they can perform at their best, Glori Chaika also states that “One-fourth of new teachers -- if they are licensed -- are not licensed to teach in the field they are teaching.” (Chaika) Many teachers have very little knowledge on the subject they are teaching, “About 55 percent of students taking physics in the United States, for example, are taught by someone who never majored or minored in the subject.” ( Asimov) As a result of the current teacher shortage, the quality of America’s educational system has gone down. People are being hired with no teaching experience and teachers are being forced to teacher subjects that they are not familiar with. Adding to the current teacher shortage is the problem of teacher
America: the land of freedom and innovation. For upwards of two hundred years, America has impressed the world with the courage of her people, her ideas, her ingenuity, and her tenacity. Her very name is synonymous with the dream of freedom and the idea that one can make something of oneself regardless of beginning social status if only one works hard. America gives her working citizens, overall, an amazing quality of life compared to most of the world. However, she has her problems: political unrest, social justice issues, issues defining the Constitution, school shootings, police brutality, and many more concerning issues. Some purport that many of America's problems could be solved with education. However, that in and of itself is a problem. America's educational system is corrupt and not her own. It is an age
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Albert Einstein, a German-born physicist. This quote is referring perfectly to standardized testing by saying something along the lines of, you can’t judge a student’s ability to perform well in school by giving him/her a standardized test. Standardized testing is wrong just because not all students can perform well on a test, including myself. Administration often want to take the easiest way out to collect the data they need to place students in classes instead placing them according to something else; or in such way that is fair to all students. Education is a big part of our nation today with one of the biggest components being standardized testing, which does not accurately measure full capabilities of students from elementary on up to the high school level.
Standardized tests are categorizing teachers based upon how their students are performing on a standardized test. The way that teachers are trying to teach is controlled by standardized tests in order to provide the student with as much help as possible to guide the student to succeed as well as the teacher. As a result, the teachers are put upon a great amount of pressure in order to meet the needs to guide students for a standardized test so that both the teacher and students is able to be successful. For those teachers who wish to teach differently, it is more of a struggle for them to receive an exemplary label due to the fact that standardized tests judge them unfairly. Standardized tests are measuring many people in an unfair manner all over the United States. “In the United States, standardized testing is one of the primary methods used to measure the performance of educational institutions (and often teachers) and to make decisions about the distribution of funding” (Issitt). Many schools and teachers are being judged primarily as to how well their students perform on a standardized test. As a result, this can negatively impact many teachers who are able to teach really well
Today, however, it seems as if the public has lost track of the importance of a great educational system. The main issue today’s public schools faces are funding problems. There is not enough money allocated to support the growing needs of school across the nation.
Kids in America have been educated in public schools for years. Public education most certainly is not cheap though, as in 2017 the education budget was approximately $69.4 billion(). Many believe this is a little extreme and wish to lower the education budget, but that would only make things worse. Education is one of the most important things in a civilization, and it is vital that its well funded. However, much of the funding is going towards all the wrong things and America, despite spending more on education than most other countries, is only slightly above average when it comes to student performance(). The education system needs to be fixed by increasing the budget and putting it towards more practical things.
