In reality of the modern era, there are many fast food outlets worldwide and continues being a popular choice for majority of the population, mostly due to it being fast and ready to go anytime and anywhere. However, obesity being caused by fast food restaurants has been the subject of worldwide debate for many years now as there have been campaigns and boycotts against several fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King and KFC. This essay will go more into detail about how fast food is one of the main contributors to obesity, people pushing the blame to fast food and why fast food is cheaper compared to healthier food.

Also, fast food is readily available everywhere, and whenever you want regardless of time and location. According to Gagnon and Freudenberg (2012), research stated that low-income neighbourhoods have disproportionately higher concentrations of fast food outlets. These industries are successful because they offer consumers a quick, more affordable, convenient and tasty meal that is mostly high in fat and salt content and low in fiber and calcium (The Heart Links Project: Dangers of Eating Fast Food, (n.d.)). Most fast food restaurants have similar layouts such as having a limited menu, minimal service, and inexpensive food served quickly to customers. Sales are expected to rise as fast food restaurants meet the needs of current consumers which are convenience, being inexpensive, and having meals served quick. Trends toward longer workdays, combined with the growing number of dual-income families and, low-income communities make fast food an extremely attractive food option for those in the quick paced
