Abraham Lincoln a great influence not only to this country, but also to other political leaders. He showed a great example how just a few words can change much about the U.S and how the people of the U.S lives. He had many successes in his presidential years as well as the wars he lead. One of his great successes is the emancipation proclamation, this document effected how the people of the U.S treated African Americans as well as give them right to land and vote. He also wrote and delivered the Gettysburg Address, this speech gave people much to think about. The Gettysburg Address also put many ideas that many cannot imagine ito perspective.
The Gettysburg Address was written by the 16th president it is a speech written for the public, the speech explains how all men should be equal and how those who serve our country should not be held as slaves. Abraham Lincoln, the writer of the Gettysburg Address, grew up in Kentucky where there was no education or any schools. According to Brian Burns, “Abraham was self-taught until mother died and his step-mom made him go to school”(Brian Burns). During this time there weren’t well-established school systems they would teach when they could. Abraham was fascinated with reading and writing by the age of 21 Abraham knew how to read, write, arithmetic and cipher to the rule of three which was more than any teacher knew.
