During the APIE process, the client realized that she may benefit from professional help for her anxiety which seemed to increase with time. Therefore, the client is undergoing CBT through therapy sessions once a month which she plans to continue after completing the APIE process. These sessions are in attempt to alleviate stress and anxiety the client feels due to stressors she experiences within her life. She will also incorporate more mindfulness activities and breathing exercises as she works to meet her goal of continually reaching toward a better level of functioning and quality of breathing.

An assessment specifically for determining leisure interests would have given her more brainstorming power when it came time to choose her intervention. From this assessment she could have found other interventions that are particularly beneficial for individuals struggling with her same issue or condition. An assessment responsible for pointing out areas of the client’s life that could benefit from improvement through the setting of goals and objectives and a treatment plan, would have opened up an opportunity for a more in depth look at her life and the issues she considered working with for the APIE process.
Throughout the fall semester the client has been completing the APIE process project on herself and she has accomplished so much. The APIE process project has taught the client so many crucial things concerning client treatment, the overall treatment set-up including the creation of goals and objectives and even how to form a discharge plan for a client. Apart from the particular APIE process, the client has simply experienced what it is like to be a client. She has had to complete assessments and be honest about difficult things within her life. She has had to accept these difficulties and strive to overcome them in order to reach her goals and objectives. Experiencing these things firsthand can provide her with the best level of care and understanding when it comes to working with other clients. She has also had the opportunity to explore and uncover several aspects of therapy that she would like to incorporate into her practice one day.
