A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings The story “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” is a reflection of human behaviour towards good and bad circumstances in his life. Weak, innocent, dependent, and shy individuals ever need love and extra care from their outer environment, but mostly they are being ignored because of cruel and selfish thinking of the people around. Materialistic things have become the first priority of selfish people, which is the major cause of evil and bad activities in society. On the other hand, not all individuals are selfish and cruel. Kind-hearted people always care for everyone, whether they are weak or strong. In the story, there are two opposite situations for the readers. The old man, by having the wings in the story, is depicted as an angel on the Earth. Some people care for him showing a sympathetic behaviour, and it becomes a good sign in the world because of selfless love and care of humanity (Kennedy, 2014). On the other hand, the role of spider girl is a sign of evil on the Earth that does not care to harm anyone to fulfil her needs. A competition between good and bad people has been seen in the story (Rabassa, 2014).
