Question of the Week: Why did you choose this book? Explain.
I decided to choose A Thousand Acres because the book seemed interesting and could have potential with it being a modern version of Shakespeare’s King Lear, but with the setting and plot around an Iowa farm. And even though the idea might seem strange on paper, it really depends on the execution (like Chains proved last month).

Question of the Week: Is this a “good” book so far? Why or why not?
Currently, I think that A Thousand Acres is, so

What I mean is that the idea is about someone is having an amazing life, but serious or bad things happen to that person which could lead to emotional problems or, in King Lear’s case, insanity. Now, since I am halfway through A Thousand Acres, I can say there are some hints of King Lear. For example, one of our characters, named Ginny, is showing signs of a mental disorder, something along the lines of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), and in the beginning, she seems happy and cheery, meaning that something had to happen for her to get emotional scars. But if we are looking for a genre, I would say either realistic fiction or domestic realism (which is the genre about 19th century novels popular with women, which the book kind of is), due to the fact that things like PTSD or abuse can happen, and it isn’t just in the Lifetime-movie-of-the-week or in a nightmare, things like this happen in real life. And the only people you wouldn’t acknowledge that fact are people under the age of 13 and rich people who have been pampered so much that they are unaware of the live of people who aren’t in their socio-economic
The title of my book is Lost in the Barrens, it is written by Farley Mowat and it contains 244 pages. The main characters are Jamie Macnair and Awasin Meewasin. Jamie is a very dynamic character, his decisions influence many major events in the story. For example it was Jamie’s idea to travel to the stone house. Awasin sems very wise for his age, he now a lot about surviving in the wilderness. His knowledge had saved them many times. There are a few other minor characters like Denikazi and An7gus Macnair but that’s about it.
I loved this book so much. There is so much action and is so much better and exciting with so much amazing detail and description. This is one of my favorite books ever. When you read it, you don’t want to put it down and it makes you feel like you are with the characters in the book and you know them so well. I recommend this book to anyone who can read at this level.
With many positives and negatives, the book has different impacts on teens. Having recently studied this novel, I believe this book is
While reading this book I found myself making notes on how I disagree with certain topics but I didn’t realize until I was about half way through that there were many good points made. Some of the good points I did notice can be found in every chapter
7) I can imagine myself re-reading this book again in 10 years because this book is amazing and it is perfect for teenagers and young adult readers. This book is griping and beautifully written. When reading this book you get thrown into the apocalyptic setting. I would recommend this book to my friends because I loved it and all the other books in the series. It’s just great.
I give this book a solid B+, because I think he did a very nice
I did actually really like this book. I was not sure if I was going to enjoy it when the project was first assigned, but after reading for a while, I became really interested
I think that this work is a very well put together book. Even though In the earlier questions I make it sound like a ten on ten this book is not. I rate this book a 9/10 for the soul reason that it was on a very directed path and you could the events that were going to happen before they did by just reading the book. Even the twist that the author put in were not that book which made some of the book predictable and who really wants a book in which they know everything that is going to happen.
dad,” whom “had inherited the extra farm” that Ty had farmed for six years (12). His good
As the overall book, I actually kind of liked it because it was kind of hard to understand because they couldn’t use “I” and I like challenges. They had to use “We” instead of using “I” to explain they self or the story. The book was okay as a whole but still kind of hard to understand I got kind of irritated after a while, while I was reading the book because of the way it was written.
The characters bring a riveting story to life when reading. Throughout the book, I felt emotions left and right for the characters and what they were going through. There is a lot of mystery and questioning that will be answered later in the book, but once its done, there are still many questions being asked. when I look for a book, that is something that stands out to me because I really want to read more, and when you have that reaction to a book, that means it was worth reading. I found this book remarkable because of the behaviors, characteristics, and decisions that the characters make, and I recommend this book to everyone, even if they don’t like to
I don’t really recommend this book to anyone and I have a few reasons why. One reason is because I felt that there was too much going on in the book and it was very confusing. Another reason is because the book is very long and takes a lot of pages (more than half the book) to get started. My last reason is if the book is too hard and confusing to you, you can't even look up summary notes on the book because there's nothing on it.
I believe that this was a pretty decent book, at times it was boring and
Throughout the last week I have found myself evaluating the conflicts between the groups, the ask and the answer, Todd and the things he has done, and Todd and Viola. This book is very intriguing and interesting to me and I look forward to starting the next book in the series after I finish The Ask and the Answer. I would give myself a 9 out of 10 on this journal because I included all of my quotes and I incorporated all of the conflicts that occurred during this
