William Faulkner wrote A Rose for Emily to entertain his audience. It is a mysterious read which keeps the reader interested and wanting to know more. Throughout the text Faulkner hints about the misfortunes that surround Emily. The biggest problem that was seemed to be low key addressed is to not judge what you think a person may have or go through because you could be wrong or you could be entirely right. The biggest misfortune that happens to Emily, is that she dies and then the writer gives background and flashes back to what Miss Emily’s life through a third person view to show how the townspeople assumed about Miss Emily’s life. But then the narrator states that she in fact has family, and they live in Alabama. They are estranged due to an apparent argument over old Lady Wyatt’s property with Miss Emily’s dad. But after he died, her two cousins came to live with her and keep her company after the minister’s wife had written to them about her relations with Homer Barron. But the point was that she had kin underneath her roof. They even held Emily’s funeral for her after she died.
Miss Emily even assumed things herself. She thought that she was so prestigious that she did not think she had to pay taxes, as her father did not. She assumes her status and thinks she has something over everyone. She refuses to pay her money and thinks there has been a mistake. She just repeats she has not received any taxes in Jefferson. She judges the sheriff and does not consider him the sheriff. She doubts his authority and no one makes her pay the money.
Faulkner meant for anyone to read this, there are many ways people can get interested in this
