A Interview With An Interview Essay

When thinking in the terms of marriage and one’s partner, the words that come to my mind are compassion, love, tenderness, trust, and devotion. It’s truly amazing to see someone who has endured such tragedy in their life, who has suffered pain, fear, and betrayal by the hands of the one person who should have shown just the opposite. Little did I realize that the woman who would be my instructor for two college courses I had taken would be such an inspiration to me.

The interview went good, for the most part. I got enough information to form an essay and had everything I needed for the rest of the assignments, although

CW is a 49-year-old female who lives in Kingston, PA. She currently lives with her husband and two children. She is employed as nurse at First Hospital, in Kingston, PA. CW recently began a new job in a different department of the hospital. CW expressed that throughout her adult life, raising her family is most important to her. She is focused on accomplishing her roles of being a wife, mother, nurse, and daughter. She likes to be social and meet new people. CW values her independence and finds every job that she is involved in to be important. She dislikes people who put other people down. Overall CW values her family and hard work ethic.

Throughout this semester this class has allowed me the privilege to get to know people who I would have never talked to on a personal level while also having the chance to advance my interviewing skills while getting to know them. Not only did these interviews and experiences display my strengths such as being able to adapt to certain situations but even more importantly it helped show me my weaknesses. After one interview and the next, I had to learn what role I had to play as within each interview I had to adapt to find my specific role as it varied from one to the next. Having the opportunity to interview a handful of people from the beginning of this semester to now has also taught me that the person you are interviewing can have a tremendous effect on if the interview goes successfully or not for reasons that I will elaborate on further in my paper. Lastly, one of the greatest lessons I learned about while interviewing people would be how to properly prepare to make sure the interview itself go as smoothly as possible. All of these factors have helped me grow in becoming a better interviewer and have helped me grow as a person.

I got the opportunity to interview two distinct professional counselors. I will be discussing their similarities and differences in their professional careers; Based on their professional identity, approach to therapy orientation, work setting as well as discussing unique experiences they have encountered. The interview experience was very insightful in understanding the work environment for counselors across the board is very diverse. Moreover, it was a great incredulity to my ignorance of the daily duties of a counselor on a daily basis. I had the privilege to interview two very distinct therapists with different licensure and outlook in their field.

The person I had chosen to interview is a middle-aged, black, Jamaican woman; I will call Lorna. I had known Lorna for many years now. I had met her while I was working in the operating room as an OR nurse. Lorna came to us a couple of years later, hired for a position of the surgical technologist.

Today Julie Frana, a staffing specialist/human resources recruiter from Manpower came in to talk to our health careers class about interviews. I learned a lot of different things from this presentation.

I received an email from Rhonda Chambers earlier this morning for scheduling the interview, and I have mentioned to her my availability for both 13th and 20th Nov. I am very excited to meet you and your team in person.

There are so many qualities to exam during an interview, which repetition and practice will improve over time, however many aspects of this interview went well.

When I walked into the audition room at Six Flags my hands and legs shaking with nerves. I could see bright orange posters and signs posted all around informing readers about Fright Fest and that auditions were going on. I slowly walked over to the check in table and told the middle-aged woman my name when she asked. She gave me three papers to fill out and told me to sit and wait for my one-on-one interview. A brown-haired man in his late twenties to early thirties walked into the room and called my name. I got up and went with him into the next room where we sat and he proceeded to ask me questions such as why do I want to work there, if I ever had a job before, as well as multiple what-if scenarios to see how I would handle guests or

My interviewing skills have come to help me know my mentor (Harriet Kulakoff) as a person because they allowed me to engage with her in conversation not only about her thoughts on healthy aging but to explore some of her interests such as playing tennis and golf or going swimming. Throughout the interview, building off the questions asked by my team members I was also able to illicit her opinion about varying issues including the use of social media and gain her thought on the younger generation and what we can do to support each other as we age as well as become more engaged with each other in light of our seeming dependence on social media. It was an enriching experience to listen to my mentor and having the right interviewing skills to ensure that both she, myself and my team members were comfortable and engaged aided in us having a successful and productive interview.

When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to another to seek information. In my previous assessment we were asked to interview a fellow peer, on their personal experience of QIBT so far this year. We were not given any question, but made to think of our own. As we were interviewing our peer another peer was marking us on our overall ability to interview. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought my personal strengths and weaknesses were throughout my interview.
