The Mission of CBSA: In order to safeguard Canada's safety and security and to facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods, the purpose of the formation of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) was to supply comprehensive and integrated border services. The goal of the CBSA is to facilitate legitimate commerce and travel while maintaining rigorous security measures. To maintain the integrity of the Canadian border, the agency is devoted to enforcing immigration, customs, and trade regulations while preserving the ideals of fairness and transparency. The purpose of the CBSA is to substantially strengthen public safety and national security while supporting economic development and international relations via strategic initiatives and partnerships. Origin of CBSA: CBSA was created as part of the reorganization of the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA). On December 12, 2003, the CCRA was divided into the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The agency's legislative basis was formed under the Canada Border Services Agency Act and specified its particular functions and responsibilities. This further validated the CBSA's official establishment two years later.
