Basic APA Format for references APA style dictates that authors are named last name followed by initials; publication year goes between parentheses, followed by a period. The title of the article is in sentence-case , meaning only the first word and proper nouns in the title (and subtitle) are capitalized. The periodical title is run in title case , and is followed by the volume number which, with the title, is also italicized. If a DOI has been assigned to the article that you are using, you should include this after the page numbers for the article. In summary, this article disagrees with standardized testing and lists reasons why it is challenging for the school system. This article provides perspectives from superintendents, teachers, students, and parents. It also provides research and background information. The other is definitely opinionated, but doesn’t seem to show any bias. Most Important/ Interesting Idea I thought the most important/interesting idea was that it is made clear that standardized testing isn’t going away any time soon, but we have to make the best of it. Summary of the content In your summary, discuss the content and perspective/bias of the author(s). This source is a study done on the effects of standardized testing on teachers and their work environment. This source provides research and multiple teachers perspectives. The article provides a lot of background research and strictly views testing negatively. There is slight bias as the author is an educator. Most Important/ Interesting Idea Testing negatively impacts a teacher's empowerment, their work environment, and their stress level. Credibility Rating: 4 Stars Justification: There is a lot of research information, I also found this in the ODU library and it is a scholarly article. Source 3 Citation in APA format Martin J. The Journal of Negro Education, 86(1), 40–51. https://doi.org/10.7709/jnegroeducation.86.1.0040 Summary of the content In your summary, discuss the content and perspective/bias of the author(s). This article investigates the scores and effects of standardized testing of African American students VS Caucasian students. The article offers black and white students perspectives. The article is not biased, it is merely a research study. Most Important/ Interesting Idea There is a large gap between black and white students' test scores. Credibility Rating: 5 Stars Justification: There is a lot of research, it is clearly written, and there is no bias.
