Alicia Journiette 4:12 PM (0 minutes ago) to me Good evening, Faith! Thank you for sharing your thoughts I liked how you focused on Christianity in art and how it can sometimes detract from the art itself. It's interesting to consider how different perspectives can shape our interpretation of artwork. In response to Starr's statement about the need for someone with the intellectual discipline of a philosopher and the critical eye of an artist, I agree that a multidisciplinary approach can help us appreciate the depth and complexity of art. C.S. Lewis's insights, although he didn't specifically address film, can certainly provide valuable guidance in understanding and engaging with various art forms. The idea that remarkable artwork can convey God's message is a fascinating one. The concept of us being made in God's image and likeness, as stated in Genesis 1:27, suggests a connection between our creative expressions and the divine. It's good to explore how art throughout different time periods and cultures can reflect spiritual themes and inspire contemplation. Focusing on your point, what are your thoughts on how other faiths and religious traditions are represented in art? God Bless! Good evening, Joseph! Fujimura sees art as something new that changes the world to allow itself to exist. And I agree with you that the definition of art can be subjective and open to interpretation. This is something I mentioned in my discussion thread as well. The idea that art can both illustrate concepts and be a form of creation is an interesting one. It seems like you're saying that through our free will, we as humans can create art that responds to and reflects the creation that God has given us. Correct me if I’m wrong however, I to think this way as God flows directly through each of his creations.
The story of Job and how God used multiple pictures to transform and convert him is a powerful example. It shows how art, whether it's literature or other forms, can reveal truths about life and have a profound impact on us. It’s amazing that your family has such a strong connection to art! It must be so inspiring to have that creative influence around you. I can imagine that growing up in such an artistic environment has really shaped your perspective and appreciation for all forms of art. As in my opinion all forms of art share a story, and can express feelings, through music, cooking, painting etc. It's wonderful that you've inherited that attention to detail and passion for creativity. God Bless!
