September 24th, 1868). “The Apollo Belvedere” (1812); “Alexander Tumulum Achillis invisens” (1813); “Fazio” (1815); “Samor” (1818); “The Fall of Jerusalem” (1820), “The Martyr of Antioch” (1822); “Belshazzar” (1822); “Poems” (1826); “Anne Boleyn” (1826); “The Office of the Christian Teacher Considered” (1826); “The Character and Conduct of the Apostles Considered as an Evidence of Christianity” (1828); a “History of the Jews” (1829–30); “Nala and Damayanti,” and other translations from the Sanscrit (1834); a “Life of Edward Gibbon” (1839); a “History of Christianity” (1840); a “Life of Horace,” prefixed to an edition of his “Works” (1849); a “History of Latin Christianity” (1854–55); and various contributions to The Quarterly Review, which have been republished in 1870.   1
