Colenso, John William, D.D.,
Bishop of Natal (b. January 24th, 1814; d. June 20th, 1883). Several works on arithmetic and algebra, “Village Sermons” (1853), “Ten Weeks in Natal” (1855), a translation of “The Epistle to the Romans” (1861); “The Pentateuch and Book of Joshua Critically Examined” (1862–72); “Natal Sermons” (1866); a criticism on “The Speaker’s Commentary” (1871); “Lectures on the Pentateuch” (1873). He also wrote a Zulu Grammar and Dictionary. “Life” by Rev. Sir G. W. Cox (1888).
