Soul and Spirit.
ϕ (the soul) contains the passions and desires, which animals have in common with man. o εϕ (the spirit) is the highest and distinctive part of man. In 1 Thess. Paul says, I pray God you whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (See also Heb. iv. 12; 1 Cor. ii. 14 and 15; xv. 45, 46.)
