Acclamation is related to acclaim and means “being accorded applause, approval, or cheers”; He was elected by acclamation. Acclimation is a noun made from the verb acclimate, meaning “to get adjusted to a climate or an environment” or “adapt to new circumstances”; acclimation means “such an adjustment or adaptation,” as in After weeks of feeling chilled, they finally achieved acclimation to the cold. It is not a commonly used word. See ACCLIMATE.  1
