disapprove (v.)
 
 
can be used with a direct object, as in They disapproved my application (meaning “They turned it down”), or combined with the preposition of in nearly the same sense, as in She disapproved of the restaurant I chose (meaning “She didn’t like it”), or with by, as in My choice of restaurant was disapproved by the entire party (meaning that “The entire party disliked my choice”—i.e., the object of the preposition did the disapproving).  1
