Mexican, Mexican-American (nn.)
 
 
Mexican refers to a citizen of Mexico; when used to refer to a Mexican-American, it is sometimes considered taboo. Mexican-American refers to a member of that ethnic group who is a U.S. citizen; the term is usually hyphenated. See also CHICANO; HISPANIC.  1
