is the omission of words from a locution when the context can make clear what is meant: He runs much faster than I [can]. That is the book [that] I wish I had written. I think Mozart’s music is the best of all, and I’ll bet you do too. In the last example, the ellipsis is accomplished by means of that all-purpose auxiliary, do. So can also substitute for other words in this way: I think she’s a winner; I hope the judges think so too.  1
