| can combine with between, as in Well mediate between the two parties, and occasionally with among, as in There are three claimants, and youll have to mediate among them. It can also use for and on behalf of: Ive been asked to mediate for [on behalf of] the committee. And when it means transmit or interpret mediate can combine with through and to, probably as a vogue word, as in She attempted to mediate the manners of the society to the immigrants through a series of playlets.
