diesel (n., v.)

The i precedes the e, and the two Standard pronunciations are DEE-zul and DEE-sul. A specialized intransitive sense of the verb applies to an internal combustion engine that continues to run even after it has been turned off; the engine is said to diesel, and the phenomenon is called dieseling.  1
