fait accompli
pronounced either FET or FAIT uh-kahm-PLEE or a-kahm-PLEE, means in French an accomplished fact and in English something already accomplished or completed, presumably not to be undone. Its plural is spelled faits accomplis, with the last syllable pronounced either -PLEE or -PLEEZ and the rest unchanged. See FOREIGN PHRASES; FOREIGN PLURALS.
