anterior (adj.)
 
 
is a technical adjective in medicine, biology, and the like: the anterior blood vessel is “the one before or in front” (the posterior vessel is “the one in back or behind”). When it combines elsewhere, anterior uses the preposition to and is usually limited to pretentious Formal or Oratorical contexts.  1
