mayoral (adj.), mayoralty (n.)

Pronounce the adjective MAI-or-uhl, MAI-uhr-uhl, or (in rapid speech) MER-uhl, and the noun similarly, but ending in -tee. Don’t stress -or-. The adjective applies to matters concerning the officer or the office, and the noun refers to the office, the term of office, and the abstract idea of having a mayor or serving as one.  1
