QUOTATION:Courage, then, for the end draws near! A few more years of persistent, faithful work and the women of the United States will be recognized as the legal equals of men.
ATTRIBUTION:Mary A. Livermore (1821–1905), U.S. suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 4, ch. 22, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper (1902).

In a letter to the sixteenth annual convention of the American Woman Suffrage Association, which was held November 19- 20, 1884, in Chicago. In fact, thirty-six more years would pass before women would be granted suffrage.
