ATTRIBUTION:Mary Allison Burch (b. 1906), African American advocate for children. As quoted in Past and Promise, part 4, by Georgetta Merritt Campbell and Daryl Boylan (1990).

From an interview conducted on November 22, 1986 by Campbell and Boylan. Burch settled in Newark, New Jersey, and in 1949 established a group called “The Leaguers,” which assisted young people through scholarships, tutoring, and other efforts.
