QUOTATION:I cannot say to a person who suffers injustice, “Wait.” Perhaps you can. I can’t. And having decided that I cannot urge caution I must stand with him.
ATTRIBUTION:Sandra “Casey” Cason (b. c. 1939), U.S. political activist. As quoted in Personal Politics, ch. 3, by Sara Evans (1979).

From a 1960 speech given at the congress of the National Student Association. She was referring to injustice toward Southern African Americans. Cason was later known as Casey Hayden, an activist in the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and among the earliest post-1950s feminist theorists in the United States.
