NUMBER:17859
QUOTATION:Socialism with a human face.
ATTRIBUTION:Alexander Dubcek (1921–1992), Czechoslovakian politician. Attributed.

Dubcek’s words (”in the service of the people we followed a policy so that socialism would not lose its human face”) became a watchword of the “Prague Spring” of 1968, which led to his replacement as first secretary of the party by Husak, and the withdrawal of his party membership in 1970.
