QUOTATION:I can’t be President since I am a naturalized citizen, but I figured everything else was fair game.
ATTRIBUTION:Arati Prabhakar (b. c. 1959), U.S. technology analyst; born in India. As quoted in the New York Times, section 3, p. 8 (August 1, 1993).

At thirty-four, she was appointed head of the National Institute of Standards and Technology by President Clinton. She was the first woman to lead the 3,000-employee agency and among the few to be appointed from without rather than from within the agency. Earlier, she had been the first woman to earn a Ph.D. in applied physics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
