| 1558?1609, English poet. A lawyer educated at Oxford, he wrote Pan his Syrinx (1584), translated Plautuss Menaechmi (1595), and gained a reputation with Albions England, a long history in verse first published in 1586 and completed in a 16-book version published in 1612. |
