Verrazano-Narrows Bridge
 
 
vehicular suspension bridge, New York City, across the Narrows at the entrance to New York harbor, linking the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island. Designed by O. H. Ammann, the bridge was completed in 1964. It is the longest suspension bridge in the United States, with a main span of 4,260 ft (1,298 m). There are two levels, each holding six traffic lanes.
