McMinnville
 
 
city (1990 pop. 17,894), seat of Yamhill co., NW Oreg.; inc. 1876. It is a trade and processing center in the fertile Willamette valley. Foods, textiles, and building materials are produced, and there are wineries. Linfield College is in McMinnville. In 1992 the city acquired the “Spruce Goose,” the 200-ton (180-metric-ton) wooden aircraft with a wingspan of 320 ft (97.6 m) built by Howard Hughes during World War II.
