Matsudaira, Tsuneo
 
 
(tsn´ mätsd´rä) (KEY) , 1877–1949, Japanese diplomat. He was much involved in negotiations with the United States and Great Britain and as a delegate to the post–World War I naval conferences. He served as ambassador in Washington from 1924 to 1928 and later as ambassador to Britain. In 1929 he headed the Japanese delegation to the London Disarmament Conference. From 1936 to 1945 he was imperial household minister. After Japan surrendered to end World War II, he was elected (1947) first head of the new house of councilors.
